Brink has not flopped yet

Who told you that ?

Farmville/PetVille/BeJeweled/AngryBirds > any fps game

What’s your point?

(hailey) #44

But the relationship might be closer than you think. “I’ll be honest,” said Richard Ham, creative director at Splash Damage to Joystiq during a recent press event in Los Angeles. “Brink is Enemy Territory 3. Let’s not mince words here.” Well, okay then.

My point is the screenshot of OP and the number of players for these two games.

Currently I feel like:

YOU ARE AN IDIOT, HAHAHAHAHA! (I bought two flopped FPS games in a row - Brinkenstein).

Damn, I suck.

(yoomazir) #46

the sad thing is, if only Bethesda/SD had delayed a little bit Brink to fix all those problems they would probably had a better reception & success.

(Azev2000) #47

Todays numbers are yet again even worse.

Current
2,068

Peak
3,039

Yes some may use the time of day excuse but I check it daily and by now it almost always has hit its peak for daily activity.

People need to realize that SD is not Bethesda. They don’t run their forums the same way or treat their clients the same way. I think a lot of rage that we see on these forums is people wanting to bitch over on the Bethesda forums and getting themselves banned so they come over here and make all the laid back regulars here miserable.

Paid 50$ so my clan could disappear. Played with those guys for 4 years. Made great friends. Now all that is gone until a decent game comes out.

I was looking at the lineup of games for 2011 - 2012, and the only one that looks half way decent is BF3. BLAH!

But I guess you take what you can get.

How can SD go from W:ET, ET:QW, to this? I mean, c’mon!
They were supposed to save FPS gaming for thousands of “real” FPS players.

All hope is lost until the next Indie group comes out with another one hit wonder I suppose.

They would have to restructure maps to even out the spawns. I highly doubt that will happen.

I have no problem with lag, so no complaints there.

Weapons are retarded in this game. Unbelievable spread. Stupid *ss teammates sliding into you causing damage.
Heavy class for the noobs that I mow down with the lite class, HAHA.

I give it to you guys for sticking with such a crappy game. But like said before, it will be in vein.

No more wasting money on SD for me.

(PsYcHo) #50

Wheres the problem?
So… i never have problems finding a server!

(Sono) #51

Is anyone really surprised at the dwindling numbers? Sorry, but when you knowingly release a rather low quality game from the perspective of bugs, balance and awful lag for the consoles; the word of mouth is going to kill any future potential the game had.

The upcoming patches needed to be a release day download vs a month later and that’s really all there is too it. I hope someone is happy with the results of a rushed release.

My word of mouth has gotten 6 friends to buy Brink on the 360. All but one like the game. The one guy who didn’t like it just said it was too hard for him. He’s kind of new to FPSes. So he sold his copy to another friend of ours.

We play together a few times a week and still enjoy it. I’ll be playing Brink until BF3 comes out. I still like to play BFBC2, but it feels so awkward now without the SMART system. I always try to slide to cover and climb up stuff, then I’m like “oh yeah, dammit”.

Leaving for what? CoD? I don’t want the FPS market to be shiity-CoD infested , so yes, I still play Brink. Amongst other “played by nobody” games, and you can laugh your ass off as much as you want, I have fun (incredible!!), and if SD can’t fix the remaining issue soon enough, I’ll have to go back to real life action, mostly.

All these threads are teen angst, tbh …

I have a friend who still meets a group of buddies online to play Perfect Dark Zero once a week! I tried to play with them, but got smoked too much to have fun.

(Kalbuth) #55

Cool story, bro’!

(SinDonor) #56

Yeah, it was. The point I was making was that people still enjoy “played by nobody” games, as you put it.

So take that “Cool story bro” BS and shove it up yer crack.

Well, to be honest, I think that would likely put you in the minority as far as word of mouth reviews go. I don’t think I would’ve recommended this game to anyone outside of the PC version and only if the person in question wasn’t using an ATI card…and I say that as someone who has encountered very few bug problems with the PC.

haha, i’ve been in a parkour mindset when playing other FPS games since buying Brink. I look at everything as something I can just hop over real quick and then become instantly annoyed at having to run around things. Damn you 2ft tall boxes that might as well be 50ft high!!111!!!

That’s the worst party about Brink right now, I actually like the core game they’ve built and it’s got a ton of potential, but they really seem to have screwed themselves by rushing it out to release at a time when there’s no other competition for this genre of game from the perspective of new releases. I’m not going to pretend like I know ‘the business’ or anything, but none of the problems with Brink seem like anything that should have gone unnoticed (immediately).

Well, I truly enjoyed the game, even with it’s lag issues. There were no lag issues when I created a private match and had 2-5 friends go against the bots, and it was still fun. There was some lag obviously vs other people, but I warned my friends about that. Now the lag’s fixed and it’s great.

Otherwise, being that the friends I told are ones who enjoy working as a team, we all like the game. Is it the ONLY game I will play for the next 6months? No, of course not. I have a bunch of other new games too, like LA Noire, Lego Pirates, and Dirt3. But for multiplayer FPS, I doubt I’ll play anything else regularly until BF3 comes out.

Bethesda gave SD another YEAR to polish. They did nothing with it but pick up paychecks.

Bethesda got scammed just like we did.

SD will fold after this disaster. Who would ever buy another game made by SD again? I’m one and done with SD. I got robbed.
