They’re a business. They have employees. The employees work and the business pays them for the work. The business has to make money to continue to function. Otherwise you get no DLCs, patches, updates, SDK, etc.
Why you deserve to get anything for free is something no one has explained.
50.00 for a game with less content than indie games… this isn’t accounting for the bugs/balance/shooting mechanics.
Let me ask you this if they would have had this last month as an open beta and had the release next month how many people do you think would have bought it? I would bet anything not even 10% of the overall sales. So ya I think I’m owed much more than I got. I want the community to have the control it did in previous titles. They are the ones that make the game last… not the developers.
As far as the SDK it doesn’t take much… basically the problem is not that they don’t want to release the sdk because of the effort. They don’t want to release the SDK because then they have to compete with the community modders who would do it for recognition alone, ask FISHBUS. (By they I mean Bethesda most likely won’t let SD release it)
ArenaNet Got it right with Guild Wars and they even offer FREE SERVERS. Valve got it right with Team Fortress 2… not only did they give tons of free updates… they embraced the community and even pay them for their efforts. That’s why these games are still going… the microtransactions that they’ve introduced do not split the community at all… the only thing people pay for are early access to things or non game play related items. That’s the way it should be.
Maybe it’s just me but if you tell me I have to tip the pizza driver 5.00 I will tell you to get bent. But if you get my food here on time and are personable… I’ve given as much as 20.00 for a tip for a small order… Get the point? You shouldn’t strong arm people into doing something, even if they were going to anyway, it will cause nothing but backlash.
