Could be worse. For instance, Activision is creating an COD Elite Subscription that will cost $8 a month. With it you get a stats site, bonus maps, better weapons with real advantages over non-elite members, and a host of other reason to suck more money out of people. And they charge $15 dollars for DLC maps when everyone else charges $10. So yeah, Brink has F-R-E-E DLC for a limited time, which is more than could be said for other publishers. And please do not use the “we should get it free because of the problems” mantra, because that just doesn’t wash since even the mighty COD had problems at launch.
BRINK DLC to come in July, won't be free?
Well the thing is a alot of people were holding out on SD as the last real hope in a COD dominated market. I am not completely against DLC but I will always be against map packs that people have to purchase. They really should have considered the TF2 model and only used paid for DLC for items and costumes etc that don’t effect gameplay. I just think its a major mistake to charge people for maps in a community that already has very low numbers.
I have tried to be positive about Brink because I have played it since launch and liked it a lot but this DLC is just a smack in the face to be honest and its hard to be positive after that. As a clan leader the issue is even more complicated for me and from the members I have spoken to they are not happy about the DLC.

The DLC is free for two weeks. Where is the slap in the face? Slap in the face would be if it was Free for everyone except say PC. Then it’d be a slap in the face.
Like said it wont effect me but I care about the future of Brink. These decisions effect myself and the future of the Brink division within TAW. How are clans going to survive when new players wont join because they have to purchase DLC? If you want this game to survive you really need to stop just thinking about yourself and the people that are part of the community at this very moment and think about how these decisions will effect the future.
Not sure what to tell you. If you look at the site map for Brink I am estimating that 3 more map packs are down the pike. Basically, Brink is gonna enter a sandbox mode where it gets better each time new stuff gets dropped, lvl cap gets raised, and more maps are available. 16 maps in Brink would be Epic. This game has longevity for fans is what I see based off of the site map alone and the end of the campaign storyline. Just keep plugging away, and let the chips fall where they may. I feel like the true fans and those who’ve weathered the storm are going to get a fresh dose of free content and love rather than the naysayers, downers, negative creeps, dweebs, lurkers, trader-in bandwagon hoppers and “Me Too” spammers. How’s that for ya?
That may be true but how many die hard fans do you estimate are going to left in say 6 months?
die hard fans stick around. we are a tough, battle-hardened type. if ya ain’t with us, ya against us. see ya on the other side of the Tower, brother.
So if your concerned about the longevity of the community you are against the community?
We can’t all be wannabe-communists-while-enjoying-the-fruits-of-capitalism like you.
I think it’d be cool to throw one shirt into the DLC that said EAT THIS! only available in the Free Period of 2 weeks. That way those who have weathered the storm could show off our diehard status. What do ya say about that?
It will be free for 2 weeks, after that it will cost money and hardly anyone wil buy it leaving the community split and even smaller than before
