Bring On The Beta...

(Seyu) #41

See, asking for a beta just to get a feel of the game wouldn’t be a good idea. People now take the beta an equivalent to a demo. Any shortcomings in the beta will lead to bad publicity(a reason for the NDA) and will simply be detrimental to the game’s development. Now that we have been waiting for the game close to two years, a couple more months shouldn’t hurt.

Edit: I don’t get how I manage to make so many grammatical errors.

In the meanwhile I’ve found other stuff to geek out over

I don’t really care anyways. So many quality titles on the market right now anyways. Still playing dead space 2, and with bulletstorm incoming, I can’t complain.

(aimology) #44
I don’t want a beta and neither do I want a demo. They’ve chosen to delay the game with 2/3’s of a year to balance it internally so let’s see how that turns out.

Besides, I’ve already stopped considering everyone’s opinion on things equally valid.
and people like you are why most games suck on release now days… you’re an idiot.

(DarkangelUK) #45

Yay aimology’s back! We needed someone to fill the village idiot role now that gunzo has ‘departed’ us, and our prayers were answered \o/

(aimology) #46

Village idiot? you mean someone that cares about how well a game is made on release unlike most ignorant people like yourself who are just fat slobs and enjoy playing games regardless if they are crap? Bet you thought CoD:WaW and Wolfenstein 2009 were great titles.

(DarkangelUK) #47

Quick, pull a funny face now and juggle at the same time! See kids, he performs when you ask… he’s also available for weddings, bar mitzvahs and doubles as a pinata at short notice (just stuff the space between his ears with sweets and candy).

(madoule) #48

sorry but a beta (-pass for you) solves all issues?

{if there actually are any of the sort you are implying}

(Apples) #49

beta isnt a must, demo is tho…

(madoule) #50

definitely not a must, it is in the eyes of the beholder…

IMO - i agree that it could only do good for SD/beth and brink as whole.
if however the business case internally (from SD/beth POV) may not look as good, well then … no demo.

Beta is an important stage of a game developing process.
If this step is ignored… Is like drawing without looking to the paper.

Angry Joe Reviews: Mind Jack

Hahahahahaha, so sad game :frowning:

Why do people seem to think because there is no public beta or a publicly announced private beta they are just going to make a game and not test it?

(LyndonL) #53

+1. What do you think they’ve been doing this whole time it’s been being “polished”. Besides, SD has hired a beta play test team afaik.

Last spring you could sign up to become an in-house tester. Seems like you missed that window.

(Protector) #55

People treat a beta like a demo because they are just gamers wanting to play… they don’t care about helping they just want to play it. All those who act like they are good samaritans around here with crap like “oh I want to help SD” are lieing and really just want to play the game aswell!

Stop being keyboard warriors and go play something until the things released!

But as I said earlier, doing a beta test now would be almost pointless. As the core of the game would have been thoroughly tested and locked down by now (or I would hope so) so that last minute polishing could take place.

(Seyu) #57

Why the need of a closed beta when the devs have an in-house playtesting team?

(.Chris.) #58

They generally suck.

(Fireseed) #59

Did anybody read this -> http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showpost.php?p=257988&postcount=502

So let´s wait, or as Kane said: “The time will tell”

(Jess Alon) #60

Beta? How about a commercial demo for the enjoyment by all.
