Big part of DBs community are just dicks. We need a forced player number balance ASAP.

(blisteringOwlNest) #61

i think just offer pretty big incentives for changing team if they’re unbalanced by at least 2. Then the people who prioritise winning don’t have to switch, but people who don’t really care (like me) can get a garunteed loudout case and double base credits (I’d take it)

Server Bworser is a great thing.
So you want forced number balance, but you don’t want forced MM

OK!!
Well a MM won’t instantly fill all unbalanced games.
And what if I want to get on an empty server? So, for example friends can join after me. I can’t do that with a MM-system. What if I wanna find a game in Lobby? If I wanna find a specific map?
And a server browser is a must-have in a MMOFPS.
Adding a balance is much better than removing a core-feature.
well that’s why I mentioned to leave some servers for random stuff.

and you can still join with friends even with forced MM even if the skill difference is high

and they still have the private lobby stuff

and why would you want to join an empty lobby?!?!

and if you join with a bunch of friends you usually start in an empty lobby

forced MM would solve more problems than it would create

Well, I sometimes play with/against a streamer and our friends. He joins an empty server and we follow him.

Name a single FPS game that has forced matchmaking that has lasted more than a couple years. The only FPS games with any longevity are ones with server browsers. This isn’t a coincidence. Titanfall had forced MM and that community died in < 6 months.

I have never played a game where matchmaking did all that great of a job. Instead what ends up happening is it forces you to wait and wait and wait just to get put into an uneven match on a map you don’t like. If I’m going to play in an uneven match, I’d rather just jump into an uneven match instantly on a map I like.

I left Guns of Icarus when they forced matchmaking (without ranks or other stuff) instead of server browser. I found out that most of the time it’s just impossible to find ANY game if noone wanna play as a pilot. So no. NO.

Quake, UT, Day of Defeat, Wolfenstein ET was quite big for a long period.
In the free area things like Crossfire, Combat Arms, A.V.A are pretty successful. All have Server Browsers.

(TheAcidpiss) #69

people want balanced games, yet they don’t want match making.

And the only other idea people have are messing around with games that have already started.

people play games like these for competition, and not competition for wins and glory ect.

just a balanced game ‘a competitive game’

the biggest complaint I hear in in game chat is unbalanced games

your never going to get balanced games in pubs any other way, why do you think ranked games have forced MM? for even competition.

even if you swap people here and there during the game you have already lost a lot of the balance, since with this game a lot of the key progression starts at the beginning of the round

(Bayo) #70

I completely disagree with balancers. They can ruin the fun for people who want to play with a friend or two.

I would personally say that the bigger issue is with quitters. People who can’t handle being on the losing side for one game. Of course, I still see people completely ignoring the objective, not dropping ammo, not healing and generally being a dick most games.

Create a Party System and only switch people who aren’t in one. Friends don’t get split, but games get balanced.

Im for the forced balance when one team gets spawnkilled and can’t even do the first object.

Don’t tell me the teams are balanced here. I can show you enough cases where the balancer made unfair teams before the game even started. Putting all high levels in one team and the other team doesn’t even have a lvl 10. My face when the highest level tells me level doesn’t matter as lvl 70+ fighting against some new players who are lower than 10. Don’t be a dick huh?

What is you have unbalanced games and parties with more people than these games are allowing? What happens then?
There is not a particular reason to remove the server browser and create ludicrous things with parties and MM instead of a simple switch of the best guy to the team with 2+ less people.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suite eh? I will repeat in the hopes you slow down and read my comment this time.

Matchmaking does not result in balanced matches. Matchmaking does not result in balanced matches. Matchmaking does not result in balanced matches. Matchmaking does not result in balanced matches.

I have never played a game where matchmaking did all that great of a job. Instead what ends up happening is it forces you to wait and wait and wait just to get put into an uneven match on a map you don’t like. it forces you to wait and wait and wait just to get put into an uneven match on a map you don’t like. it forces you to wait and wait and wait just to get put into an uneven match on a map you don’t like.

If I’m going to play in an uneven match (because nobody has a great matchmaking system), I’d rather just jump into an uneven match instantly on a map I like. I hope that by repeating myself over and over and then reposting what I initially said, you can stop misquoting me and understand that matchmaking has never worked.

Also BF3 even still gets played while old versions of COD have zero server pop. Guess which one of these has server browsers and which has MM?

If matchmaking is so great why is the wait for Ranked 5-10 minutes? This is the problem with matchmaking, it’s a chicken and the egg problem that destroys a game. As soon as server pop dwindles even the slightest bit, matchmaking either has to make terribly unbalanced matches or it has to take 5-10 minutes to find a “proper match”. Do you think this kind of thing will increase game population or decrease it? So if bad matchmaking leads to lower server pop and lower server pop leads to worse matchmaking and worse matchmaking leads to lower server pop… I think you get the idea.

If matchmaking lead to increased player usage, the pub servers would be empty and everyone would just play ranked. Instead nobody plays ranked and everyone plays pub. Central planning didn’t work for East Germany, North Korea, or the USSR yet you think it’s going to work great for Dirty Bomb. Ooookay.
