Well, Ubisoft is having the MP of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic playtested (closed) by “not-so-reliable online folks” atm too - and I haven’t discovered any leaked versions on the net yet (ok, not that I really looked for it)…
Beta, Screens and 2007
The details on the tree did make me shriver. Anyway, I’ll prolly be getting BF2142 in the Fall and then trashing it as soon as ETQW comes out.
Well, I’m all for waiting for the game to be finished before release but you all seem so positive about this that I feel I have to remind you that this is not good news for ET:QW.
By releasing it in 2007 ETQW will face some stiff competiton from some high profile games that are build on more advanced tech than ETQW. I’m talking about games like UT2007, Huxley(?) and Crysis. The gameplay might not be as good as ETQW (or it might be better; who knows) but gfx certainly will be better and that is important to a large part of the customer base.
In Q3 2006 ETQW would have been at the front of the tech race but during 2007 a lot of games will make the ETQW look old and tired.
Also, from what I understand a lot of people were going to skip BF2142 and buy ETQW instead but chances are that they will change their mind now…and in reality this mean that a large percentage of them won’t be buying ETQW at all since they’ll either be happy with BF2142, can’t afford ETQW or stop playing computer games in disgust after another BF disaster.
Anyway, the potential result is fewer ETQW players and for a MP only game this is not good. Look at the Q4 mp scene…not easy to find a good game there now.
Yeah, technology isn’t the only factor that decides the sucess or failure of a game. I’m just saying that ETQW would have been a stronger release in 2006 than in 2007…hopefully it will still be a sucess because I belive that few games will be able to beat it when it comes to the important part which is gameplay.
Also, looking at the GameSpy stats you’ll see that most of the top games were in the front technology wise when they were released, which again might have helped them to establish a large and fatithfull user base. ET is a bit special in that regard since it was based on the aging Q3 ( and RTCW) engine but it has still done well partly due to it being free. (Of course it is a great game also which is probably the major contributing factor here!)
Fall 2006, lolercaust. I’m with Picard. I smell some BFV “ballance”.
You won’t buy ever, because it isn’t out this year? crazy.
‘ooh ooh i’m so ANGERY because I can’t have I want right now!’ haha
Some people dont have unlimited amounts of money you know. And therefore dont buy every game that gets released.
Oh and, sale lost.

Don’t let me unleash the ninja tapirs !

Yes! A higher percentage of pure W:ET players to be spotted in ET:QW!
Seriously though… If you gotta choose, save your money for what you think is the best. And maybe the ET:QW demo can still hit before BF2142 is sold, as to aid in making your choice.
They’re family, friends or it’s just a guy going on an asshole rampage against ET:QW.
Family, and what we said in 2 posts could hardly be considered an “asshole rampage”.
Not everyone on the internet acts as juvenile as that, you know. Although it appears a few other people agree with me, anyway.
