Best Mousepad?

(schmeisser) #1

I read through “Aiming by Raziel”, an excellent guide, but getting a bit dated. I have a Logitech cordless optical mouse and a crappy foam mousepad. Raziel makes reference to an “IcePad”, which I have never seen. The standard optical mouse pads available in Staples or CompUSA don;t seem much smoother, hard to tell. Any suggestions?

I use Qpad, from Sweden:

There are some reviews at the site ( http://www.qpad.se/english/intreviews/intreviews.html ).
Personally, I’m very pleased with the pad. It’s large, flat and soft (textile surface). I also use a silicon-kind-of-tape, that I stick to the mouse’s glide-what-ever-it-is called … the pads under the mouse.
I hope it makes sense.
In sum: I recommend Qpad. It can take some dirt on the surface but still funtion well.

EDIT: I have a Loffytech, ops, sorry, I mean Logitech MX500 optical with cord.

I use an everglide pad, have done for years. It’s a solid plastic pad with a textured surface… my MS optical glides smooothly across it.

Depends on your mouse when choosing which is the best, I bought an IceMat when I had a MS itellimouse optical and it gave jerky cursor movement, I changed the mouse for an MX500 and I must say it’s fantastic

But the mouse you’ve got is cordless it’ll never be as good as the wired alternative

btw there’s an IceMat II now, same idea just bigger

I beg to differ on that one. If he has an mx700 or 900, they are every bit as as good, if not better, than the corded logitechs.
And mouse pads?. I don’t use one, the whole desktop, with mega-low sensitivity is how I play

Mouse…pad?

Haven’t used one for years.

The mouse is a Logitech MX700 cordless, seems to track pretty good. I use a pad cause the desk is a bit old, painted surface. Never seemed to work good with the optical mouse. I love the cordless mouse. Is it really less sensitive? It doesn’t seem so, but maybe I just got a bit better. Thanks for the suggestions.

Ive got a Logitech Mx500 with an IceMat, but I do think that the surface is too small. Didnt know there is a big version of it out now, if you are going to buy this mat please do buy that one!

Well I’m basing it on my clan mate having a mx700 and not being happy with the slight lag, he has now got an mx510 and says that it’s allot better

but until uv tried a proper mouse mat with supplied pads for your mouse you probably wil be happy with your entire desk setup you’ve got going on there matt

func surface 1030 > *
tbh tbh imo k.

double-sided “mousing surface”, one rough (fast) one smooth (slower). fits into rubber holder which stops it sliding about the desk and comes with a very simple but very effective cord holder. The surface is the best bit though, but you have to try that to see.

i am using the canon/mclaren f1 mouse pad which came free wid my printer.

ratpadz are pretty nice.

I just use a mousepad cuz I dont’ like resting my wrist on wood.

I also don’t like resting my wrists on hard plastic, so instead of a wrist lift thingies that attack onto the keyboard, I just took a mousepad, cut it in half and use that instead. it looks ghetto (and probably slowly building up bacteria), but far more comfortable than a plastic piece.

fatpad

everglide ricochet then a MX700 with frag tape so slidey as when you walk in shit with loafers

(pgh) #17

Logitech mx310, no pad…

I just keep me mouse area on me desk clean and dustfree and clean under mouse daily and its all good…

Got a Simpsons mousepad which I use on the 2nd box which doubles as a handy mat for cups, cans, food etc

yeah, you are complete right bondy. I used to have an mx700 and thought it was great … until i bought an mx510 that is!! The mx510 is so much more responsive

and back on topic it works great with my icemat. Icemats are great and incredibly smooth but you have to keep them spotlessly clean or they feel like your mouse is being used on a piece of sandpaper  If you get an icemat don’t use the filthy pad surfers, because as they wear down you have to continuously adjust your sensitivity to compensate :frowning:

Mouse? I just use the Direction keys. And Page Up/Down. Maybe I should try this “mat-mouse” you keep mentioning…
