I have an everglide mat which was excellent for my MS optical. Now I have a MX500 and it has some problems with it, sometimes my cursor jumps around. Also tried a func mousepad but wasn’t happy with it, the everglide is MUCH smoother. If I give a small tick to my mouse, it can slide all over the pad! Now THAT is what I call smooth!
Best Mousepad?
I rest the mouse on my pet dog. I find it offers a far greater level of precision than is possible by mere man-made surfaces.
I see that’s the ultimate aimbot tool, no pbss is going to detect that!
On a slightly more sensible note:
I’m using an mx700 on an icemat ( first revision, which yes is a little small ), and i find it works pretty nicely

I have a MX510 and get exactly this problem - occasionally the cursor jumps to the right. I thought it was the cheapy black foam mat I was using - do you get this problem with the more expensive mousemats??
What I have noticed is that since I have been using it more (only had for a round a month) this has happened less and less - I think it could be the mouse does not like being lifted at all from the mouse mat.
i used to get a weird skipping with my mx700 on an icemat … occasionally during fast movements my cursor would suddenly skip and point skywards
when i moved to my mx510 (on the same mousemat) the problem disappeared. So i was never sure if the problem was caused by the mx700 (maybe the wireless or the optical sensor being faulty) or whether it was the stick-on replacement feet i had put on my mx700 (as they raise the mouse slightly, which supposedly can cause problems with the sensor tracking due to the extra elevation).

Sometimes when i move my mouse right, it will “lag” (Computer won’t register the correct amount of movement, it will register less, so my x-hair on my screen will hardly move)
…course, I got a corded ball mouse thats 4 years old on a felt compusa mat whose surface is beginning to peel off
Please dont tell me your PC is a Packard Bell? :]
Always thought it was 50 year olds with kids who bought these… \o/
Its like, OMG BLA BLA XP GFX CARD ETC WITH 200GB HD! BUT YUO ONKLY GET 1GB FREE AFTER OUR SHITE IS ON IT HASHHEHA.
unfortunaetly yes it is a packard bell lol. i was young at dat time and has just stepped into the world of buying computers. i have now realized my mistakes.
i used to play on my desk without a mousepad. my microsoft intellimouse optical used to glide perfectly fine for me. then i used this mousepad that came with the pc because i tried that when i installed my nephues pc. it was so much smoother. it plays so much easier if you have a smooth surface for you mouse. it costs less power to move the mouse around and you are just faster. and if you have a cordless mouse you always get lag from it, thats like playing with a huge ping :o. same goes for tft monitors.
You kids with your fancy “mousepads” and “silicon tape” - puhlease! I picked up a $4.99 on clearance Teflon Cooking Sheet at Target & it’s like a freakin’ greased pig. The thing is huge too - about 14" square so I never run out of space. It had slightly raised edges on 2 of the sides, but a mallet took care of those pretty easily. I’m guessing if I get some nice silicon pads for the MX700 it’ll be like floating on air!
