I’m not sure if it’s running in pure or not. I’ve connected to at least 30 different servers, all with the same result. Would running in pure mode create that error?
TC
If the server is running “pure” then I assume its not the server’s fault.
R u using the FULL version of ET? not the beta version?
Have u tried re-installing ET again?
Did ET download ok?

Hey Sock -
I am using the full version of ET…I downloaded it here (twice…I thought it was a bad download the first time I got the errors)
I did try re-installing it again and the download was ok both times I tried it.
The reason this is so weird is that when I’m disconnected, it brings me to the ET menu for “play online”, “host game”, etc… with an error box right in the center of the screen. The dialog box with the error in it is part of the game code, created by splash damage (I’m assuming).
Do you guys have a list of your error codes and the reasons for someone getting them?
TC
Please could you post your system specs as it sounds like something is going wrong on your PC. This error is pointing to an unknown entity type. Are you running the standard ET maps?

GForce FX 128 MB RAM
Audigy Platinum Ex
XP Pro OS
Cable modem
<let me know if you need more info on my PC>
I downloaded ET a couple of times, and the install was what was included in the default download. I haven’t downloaded any patches, mods, extra maps, etc. There are 6 maps that I have access to now.
Anything I can do to clean up this entity type?
sock…have you heard anything on this? I can send you a screen shot of the error if you’d like. I know it’s an error that ET is generating, so someone there should have an explanation of what needs to be done.
Thanks for your help!
TC
Can u run a map locally? This error is being produced by the client. If you can run a map locally on your machine, then it maybe something about your cable modem.

yes, i can run a map locally, but I get the same error after a few minutes :disgust:
here’s the error I’m getting:

has anyone seen this before?? Please, for the love of God…HELP!
:banghead:

Can you record a demo of the few minutes of local gameplay and give us a link to download it from somewhere? Does it happen on all maps?
Sock
:moo:
The problem is I could play for 20 min before it happens, or 2 minutes before it happens. No way to determine when or on which map.
Yes, I have played all 6 maps with the same result on all of them.
Do you recognize the screenshot I gave you? Have you seen that before?
Thanks!
TC
what is a demo going to do?? You’ll see me walk around, shoot a few people, the screen will freeze then I’ll get kicked out to this error

Am I missing something here? It’s an error generated specifically by ET…it’s not a random PC error, or vid card error, or I/O error. I find it hard to believe that the only help/advice I’ve gotten is “get a demo”.
If you can explain the logic behind this demo idea, I will be more than happy to do it. Otherwise, I would be just as happy if someone were to look up the error and find out what it means…ie…how to fix it.
I’m not trying to be a jerk here, but am I in the right forum? SD is, as I understand, the creators of ET. I’m going on the assumption that the creators would most likely have the error codes.
If I’m out of line here, let me know.
TC
Oh…if you’re looking for specific scenes where it freezes up, I won’t be able to provide that to you. The errors are generated at completely random places in the board.
I love the game, so I continue to reconnect and i haven’t been able to see any pattern as to where or when I get booted off. It’s happened on every map, on just about ever possible server out there.
TC
A demo will allow us to recreate the error on our machine as it should have the information on what happens stored in it. Error messages are generated as a last resort, they can be caused by loads of different things.
So… we need a demo
:disgust: You win this time, Lonestar…
Well, the inevitable next question; how does one go about creating that demo for you guys? I’m an audio guy, but I’m a quick learner. What do I need to give you this demo?
TC
wouldn’t the video that I make for you just contain the data from the recording…not the actual code from the game logs?
I’m glad you are not getting wound up over this issue with ET!
To record a demo.
Not sure you will need the stop recording feature as it crashes atm.
Zip the demo up and give us a link we can download it from.
