well, i think that’s an interesting idea, and i voted yes. the reason being is because if it works, then great. it will take a load off of the developers so that they can have more time developing and making a much-needed patch for enemy territory :P. the contrary to this is indeed, some people just can’t handle power. they are very cool and well civilized human beings until they get some power under their wings… then they totally change, telling people what to do and so on and so fourth. i would say that being a gaming forum, it is much more prone to this behavior because most gamers are very competative. i’ve owned and been on many forums in my life, and am on several still; so i’m speaking more from experiance than anything. you should probably have an age limit for the people who you do get to be moderators (18 preferably), because i’ve found that there are indeed very mature and talented 15 year olds out there, but they will show their true colors every now and then ;/.
in short, i say yes. it is risky though, so to keep from corruption, make a mod-only board for the moderators who aren’t developers to chat in. if things go down hill fast, take their rights as moderators away just as fast. it’s a nice idea, but i wouldn’t want it to be the death of the forums.
anyway, i’m sure i wouldn’t be a moderator. i’m not nearly a poster like others, lol. but i do think that it would be kindof cool to be one. every time a developer replies to a post i feel all funny inside; you guys are hero’s! haha.
