Aren't you too old for Brink?

(xTriXxy) #41

but we don’t know how many voters like and how many voters dislike brink…
what if everyone who voted enjoy playing brink?

(tokamak) #42

Thanks for grouping 19-23 together, makes me feel young.

(Lydia) #43

What are you talking about, you crazy foo?!

Don’t forget that the daddy of and still the best example of objective/class based gameplay is RTCW, and that was released in 2001. If anything, everything released since has been a simplified and watered down wannabe.

I’m 32 btw and back in the RTCW/ET days there were people in our clan 10-15 years older (people who’d been playing TFC for years before then). Most of them still play now and lament the lack of decent objective based shooters released these days. I’m afraid, sonny, it’s the current CoD generation that are the problem!

lol, that beats me then! My mother in law still plays at 62 but not fps online, more Fallout 3 or other RPG’s. We call her out Roll Playing Grandma.

I don’t think the original post is true but I am glad the poll was taken. Very interesting result. I am 46, 47 in August. I very much like playing video games and own a Xbox360 and a PS3. I don’t not have any cable, satellite, or TV programming of any kind - I do get the basic stations that used to be the ones you picked up with rabbit ears before the whole thing went digital. And you thought TVSUCKS was just a name - nope I actually mean it.

I like movies (and stream them in HD to a nice 58" 3D plasma TV), reading and, yes video games. They are fun challenging and actually require something of you - and I like Brink exactly because it has some depth relative to most other FPS shooters out there. It’s actually a nice balance of FPS with that extra tactical component thrown in. While I am new to Brink, so far, I am enjoying it. I have only had a couple of laggy games and thanks to the folks here, I get into games with other people. Working together I have accomplished tasks and also had my lunch handed to me. Frankly, one without the other is boring.

So I think rather than age defining likes or dislikes regarding game type, I believe it has more to do with one’s overall personality. The answer is probably a profile like one of those sleuths on a detective show would gin up. But the stereotype of some couch potato geek playing video games in their mother’s basement is probably pretty far off the mark these days.

For all I know, you are the same as a 5 year old according to this poll :stuck_out_tongue:

But

but

you ARE young!

(wolfnemesis75) #50

They will have to pry a controller out of my cold, dead hands!

(Miken420) #51

I’m 28 and I love the game. My nephew is 10 years old and he can play pretty decently too, with me coaching him of course, so that he doesn’t go around not helping his team.

Teaching a kid who owns a Wii and a PS2 to use PC controls was a daunting task, but they really can pick up on anything very quickly. I’m so proud of him!

It’s funny when a 10 year old kid knows what things like “Buffing teammates” and “Laying down a field of suppressing fire” mean lol.

Gaming parents - what other way to populate the Earth with our minions.

Muahahahahahah, etc.

(Lydia) #54

So what ? That´s your point of view . Wich is not equal with the truth .
According to what I have seen from you , you could be 5 years old .

(Tandem) #55

plus 1.0000000000

(PsYcHo) #56

Wow, yes the results are very interesting!
But, I was expecting this. The most young players don’t want to work in a team.
They just want to… play.
I’m also one of the “younger” players. Im 17. But I love games with teamwork
Played ~1200h CoD4. I think 1000 of them were played on Promod/Pam with my clan.
And I’m a BF Player. For me, its just much more fun to work in a team.

(tokamak) #57

Your posts actually make me feel incredibly mature, and that’s saying something.

(mortis) #58

I’m nearly 38 and come to Brink via Unreal Tournament, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and ETQW. Team based objective shooters are the only thing I play online, with the exception of DDO with some real life friends (but not usually with random online strangers). CTF was my introduction to basic objective completion, along with assault mode in UT. To be fair, I did play a bit of Quake 3 and CamperStrike, but I soon grew weary and headed back to my favorites…

(xTriXxy) #59

big respect to SD forum and to SD forum members! i wasnt expecting that kind of results.
For example Nail, born in 1950? wow. i guessed you are 20 or so.

@tok : I you have a problem with me being around here … uh , well , then i can´t help you .
Bad luck i´d say .
