Aren't you too old for Brink?

(Smoochy) #61

you cant say all young people dont know teamplay. back on bf2142 there was a few of us who played together (not in a clan) and this one guy was great at teamwork and he was only 15 or so. Robodent i think his name was. some people just ‘get it’ and some people just want the glory.

(neg0ne) #62

@ xtrixxy: Wrong.
first: its nothing new. i play objective team shooters since RTCW…long time ago.
its only new and fresh for the young.
so i would claim right the opposite: this kind of teambased gameplay needs mature gamers. ( no matter how old in years)

By now I feel I’ve basically seen all Brink has to offer before. But I guess thinking about your teammates and all that looks like fresh and exciting to the CoD generation.

so yeah, I guess I’m too old

answered 19-23 btw

Well my half-brother is 40 this year (when I was a kid he gave me Metal Gear Solid 2), but other than that I don’t know anybody who is older than say, 25, who even plays video games. Don’t know any parents, don’t even know any young adults; just seems to be, at the oldest, me and my late-teen friends who play them. It’s crazy to see that older people play video games… it’s like some kind of myth.

Err…I’m 41…is that bad?

Took up gaming to be in tune with my son, and never got round to growing out of it!

Still, keeps me off the streets and out of the bar…

Pfft. You can play a nintendo DS in the bar!

33 here. Been gaming since I was a wee lad. Kids nowadays and their “sports”. Just you wait, in a few years time the only gamers left will be oldtimers

(.Chris.) #67

Well what do you know, a fairly even spread of age groups, who’d have thought…

(Smoochy) #68

i actually saw a survey that showed that the average age for a gamer was 40! so, there must be loads of people well over 40 still playing. maybe they are playing wii or those rubbish facebook games?

maybe you dont know any ‘older’ people who arent parents? a lot of my mates play games and they fall in the 35-40 bracket. even after my son is born in a few months i will still play games. in fact we are looking at a new house that has a study i can turn into a PC games room (ps3 will still stay in lounge with the home cinema).

our generation grew up with video games being a new thing. i remember playing games that had stick figures and used 4 colours! (some were even black & white)

(MF Maou) #69

Same here.

(StillBatusBrad) #70

^^You are young, sproglings! I’ve got a pair of combat boots older that that!!

sob:frowning:

i see now my hypothesis was wrong.

(wolfnemesis75) #72

Young folks don’t realize that us older guys have grown up with video games with Atari. But anyone no matter age can enjoy a teambased game. Its not everyone’s cup of tea no matter the age.
So what ? That´s your point of view . Wich is not equal with the truth .
According to what I have seen from you , you could be 5 years old .
Lydia I have known Crytiqal for years and I bet he didn’t mean any offence when he said for all he knew you could be 5. I think he was refering to the 0-14 poll option which really only tells us that there are people between those ages, for All I know you could be 1 5 8 or 12 or 14 as you are, the only reason we know you are 14 is because you told us not because the poll told us.

The same applies to me. I could be 19 20 21 22 or 23 I am in fact 20 but I got into the 19-23 group. Just chill out, I know when your young it can be like everyone is attacking you but it just aint the true so relax!

(Smoochy) #74

agree. you either like team games or not. ive come from teambased FPS games so i prefer them to the lone man style of games.

its odd to think that games like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71LF2PjYgnM and this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Keq4d5g6Z8&feature=related and this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBEVnr71mno&feature=related

kept me entertained for hours. (btw guy playing the first vid is a tool. i completed that game when i was <10 years old! and that was without then internet or any help)

i guess gamers these days dont remember what we all went through to get the type of games we have now. i didnt think we would ever end up with graphics like we do now!

(Miken420) #75

Anyone remember Joust?

I used to get in some pretty heated matches with people at the Scandia arcade playing games of Joust.

(zenstar) #76

If you don’t remember VHS vs Betamax then you’re too young!

(wolfnemesis75) #77

Lol. We laughed at Betamax and its lack of selection. You are too young if you did not do the backwards cheat in Pitfall.

(digitalzero) #78

I was just talking about Pitfall the other day! Those darn crocks!

If they only understood the number of systems and what we went through to get where we are now.

Surely you mean Role Playing Grandma? :penguin:

EDIT:
Srry for double post, just spotted his post when I was done ;)
Doh!

:o

(Glyph) #80

Well, the poll has proven one thing only, older kids have better toys.
