Aren't you too old for Brink?
Sweet! I have something to look forward to.

-JJ
Yes you do.

I spent years during my twentys obsessed with the earliest PC games like Universe which was in black and white ( a space trading and political intrigue game), and Star Fleet (which used machine language symbols for spaceships of certain alien races), etc., just dreaming of the kind of graphics that have progressed and become available through the years . . . so now with all the incredible game tech that exists now in 2011 there’s no way I’m not going to keep playing all I can. . . I really like Brink and am trying to hang in with it. Althought I play some games on the PC still, I play most on XB360 now, and Brink is one of them. The lag has gotten better and I’m playing it more. I also love Bulletstorm, GOW(s),Left4Dead(s), COD, Fallout(s), Crysis2 (campaign), Alien v Pred (campaigns), Riddick - Dk Athena. . . and more. Looking Fwd to GR:Future Soldier, Rage, EDF:Insect Armageddon. . . I’ll never quit playing.

:)
That’s great! I’m impressed! . . but I’m not suprised because we’ve come up the same long road and we’re not about to quit while the state of the art is so “everything” we always looked forward to for 30 years.
Pls vote .

why?
what if there is corelation between brink and our age? just a hypothesis, but i think, objective and only objective focused games are something new here and older players have problems to adapt new ideas. I cannot enjoy Brink because im not solid team player. yeah i know it. What i only need is that feelings from mass kills and camping or hunting for noobs and so on.

anyway whats your opinion about that?
If I had to form an opinion connecting age to objective based games, I would go with the exact opposite of your thinking.

I believe older players are the ones who more enjoy objective based FPS games, since they are more “mature,” for lack of better words. They involve structure, focus and teamwork, while the younger audience seems to more prefer simplicity and instant gratification, which can be found in gamemodes like TDM, FFA and CTF. That’s just my 2 cents.

Was thinking something similar. So agreed.:penguin:

(jtcolumbus) #26

35 and love Brink. Best shooter I have played in years.

(legend123) #27

For multiplayer definetly. Im enjoying Brink now more than in the early hours.Hasnt been since W:ET that a game came somewhat close to the awesomeness of W:ET

(to_few) #28

Im 44 in a few weeks.
Been waving pliers at explosives since RTCW
Loving BRINK :penguin:

(EnderWiggin.DA.) #29

Honestly, I was thinking the opposite.
Objective play is not a new idea. RTCW released 2001. GOTY. There were probably team fortress mods before that.

(Achtung) #30

Most SD fans are older players from the ET days, and have been jonesin for a good obj game forever.

(Jamieson) #31

I am 20 I started playing the ET series like back when I was 13. If anything I would say it is usually older gamers who prefer the more tactical/team orientated gameplay over the say the 13 year olds who play COD. The polls seems to demonstrate that point.

(Smokeskin) #32

Rather than just an experience with certain games thing, teamwork is something young people in general are far less adept at. I’m not saying that young people can’t teamwork, of course they can, but it really is something many people get better at with age.

(Nexusdog) #33

46, sorry.

(Smoochy) #34

i would say us older farts (im 36) are better at this teamwork stuff. kids just want the glory

(.FROST.) #35

Almost 32. I grew up reading comics and I love them to this day. Especially Greg Capullu’s(Spawn) Stuff. Brink looks like a Greg Capullo comic went 3D.

(Nexusdog) #36

Amen. After playing the L4D series since it’s been out, I’ve had countless numbers of lousy games but have a core of similar aged, good players I call friends. With Brink though, I’m loathe to use comms ingame, which is a shame cos I’d enjoy working with good team players and having some online games.

(neuroatypical) #37

I have been into video games since 1975 and it is apparent that as with all things commercial new ideas are a risk and people don’t like taking risks with their money.

we see the same old stuff regurgitated repeatedly looking for a slice of the action…

Brink is different and I love it…I do however think they dropped the ball re no lobby system

the problem with polling this forum is that you are only polling this forum…

CU in the slums…

(Kalbuth) #38

Your poll’s result seem to say otherwise

(Oblivian) #39

I was 30 when started playing RtCW, now with Brink 40

(darthmob) #40

What’s with all the old people around here? Get off my lawn!
