Anyone else getting bored?

don’t really agree; after hundreds of hours it wouldn’t matter to me so much which map im playing on. But whether i have EQUALLY skilled opponent would make or break the game

There’s absolutely no financial crisis in the video game world. There’s ton of players who are going to accept obnoxious proposals that are mainly generating more benefits for the publishing company’s shareholders. They are milking video games as they are doing it with films. And to their point of view, a minor source of economy multiplied by a massive number of players is not so minor anymore. Just to mention a few examples, think how you can justify from a player’s perspective cod:mw2’s no hosted server idea and the fact that any recent bf opuses (including the upcoming battlefront) are now 100€+ to enjoy the full experience.
Well, I wanted to originally post something about “greed getting in the way of making quality games”, which is accurate for a whole bunch of modern games (not necessarily in Dirty Bomb’s case, though).
And since you mentioned it, I could rant all day about why MW2 is awful, not only on it’s own merits, but also because of the wave of cancer that it set in motion.
I won’t, though.

So true. ET was a good development from that game, but RTCW never got old. Many maps were so large with so many routes, and I would still play it now except for no servers available. Our clan had two servers we rented, a trainer, and a map maker we paid to make a couple training maps. The first clan I was in even had a merchandise line of hats, G-strings, and coffee mugs. The team atmosphere was extreme. I have four copies still, RTCW, RTCW GOTY, etc. This game has RTCW’s spirit, and goes beyond with variety with the mercs.

Reached 190 hours and basically stopped as well.
For me it’s simply the lack of maps. I also despise chapel so it’s basically 190 hours of playing 4 maps I actually enjoy.

What’s on the horizon?
A (in my opinion) entierly pointless gamemode and one more map.
Free to play has proven successful with DOTA and it’s bastard children releasing a few new characters once in a while and only having 1 map.
But in a FPS that simply isn’t enough to keep me interested.

Unlike you guys I don’t care that much about the skill difference of players. F2P will always be a shitfest of mouthbreathers coming on servers without having done the tutorial standing around and looking at the skybox. There is no way of the devs fixing that unless Dirty Bomb explodes in popularity for some reason and forcing level differences to servers.
Which obviously won’t be happening.

Over 600 hours and I still don’t find it boring.
I play in a regular server if I want to relax and join a server with really skilled players to bring the ball rolling.
The maps do get a bit old after playing them thousands of times, though.
So yeah, I think it’s a good idea to bring out more maps as well as polishing the game itself, aka bug fixing.

The main reasons why I don’t feel like playing much anymore:

A ) I can join whichever regular server, and usually everyone else are level 1-10 ish, and awful at the game. Joining min10 servers is a chore, and not always possible.

B ) No sense of community in-game, because servers are just numbers, with no personality, and we are treated like a herd.

C ) Having to rely on team mates giving ammo, while the majority are too goddamn dumb or ignorant to give any. Or alternatively you can run to an ammo box and stand there doing nothing for a minute.

D ) Lack of new content, and failure to fix major bugs.
This is pretty much my gripe to a tee.

That’s gonna create brony/weeaboo and achievement servers like in TF2.
I don’t want the server browser to be full of ACHIEVEMENT SERVER/ FAST CREDITS or BRONY BOMB XDD whenever I open it.
And yet despite all that, back in the first few years of TF2 we had amazing custom maps and gamemodes along with community servers that had amazing rotations that were always full.
What I’m getting at is eventually the server browser will look something similar to TF2’s.

I agree it has something of the spirit of RTCW, but it is diluted by too many issues and design decisions such as ammo crates and any class being capable of reviving and planting/defusing C4.

(Grave_Knight) #68

Huh. Another one of these threads. Anyways, the trick is to play other games. Personally I only play once every few hours until I have all the missions complete and don’t play again till the missions refresh (and usually not even than).

(Lumi) #69

I used to do the same, but even that got stale…

(Grave_Knight) #70

That’s also why I play other games. Like I also play WildStar.

(Lumi) #71

I do play many other games, still doesn’t make DB less stale.

(MissMurder) #72

More stuff is coming this month to freshen us up!

(DarkangelUK) #73

Execution being in the game full time will help mix things up for those that like the mode
Dome is at least a new map to break up the monotony of the others
I’m hoping two new mercs but even the one, and if it’s Stoker, will change play in games

I think some ‘mosh pit’ servers would be good where you mix between Execution and OBJ/SW. I want something to keep me on a server, and at the moment too many people quit to leave and go find another for no real reason. Something as simple as named servers that you frequent and get to know players as time goes on can do wonders for your enjoyment instead of these generic, faceless servers that see a hell of a lot of attrition.

I think there are two main reasons why people leave serves:

 1. They got a case and as there is no way of opening them in-server they need to leave in order to do so.
 2. The game they just played sucked due to various imbalance reasons: player numbers, skill distribution, etc.

Solutions would be adding an in server ability to open cases as well as introducing an automated shuffling tool that shuffles teams when there is a player number imbalance greater than one and when a vote shuffle is called with both team score averages being as different from each other as one being more than double of the other (a good indicator of teams being imbalanced).

or 3) The chosen map is Chapel.

(Szakalot) #76

there is one more reason why people servers: its because people leave servers.

Yup, its that simple: if you know >50% of server is gonna drop, you better leave too or you’re stuck on an empty server with a map loading.

(Lumi) #77

Chapel is great, I don’t see your issue? But yeah, sometimes people vote for a map that you’ve just played three times in a row…

(xAvenger) #78

@avidCow yes, that is true. You had to have an LT for ammo, and you had to have Medics – I remember only playing medic for the two-and-a-half years the game was popular.

(Backuplight) #79

Chapel is one of my favourites tho :open_mouth:

(Demolama) #80

Well there are many reasons why people leave servers. For me it sometimes just boils down to I want to play X map but the stupid vote system won’t let me play it again
