Aircraft thoughts

Yup, we had rambo medic with ET, we will have rambo noob tank with engy in it.

But We all have buddies and having 4-6 engies in a veichle… this will pwn!

If they keep the auto-repair in, common sense (for game balance) is that they probably only allow 1 Engy to repair at a time even if 5 are inside an APC. And if some of the recent previews saying the Strogg repair bot has to be earned are accurate, I’m guessing this skill needs to be earned too - possibly the very top skill to be unlocked?

In any case, Engy being the best driver makes enough sense to me.

Soldiers have the most killing power on foot, so they don’t need a vehicle to kill. Medics are up at the front to support them and Field Ops are probably on foot to target artillery and deal out ammo. Covert will generally work solo with a Quad bike, go in disguise, or lay low and snipe.

Yup, engies are the new rambo medics.

Medics as a killer-class will probably vanish. But coverts will rock on such huge maps.

I don’t know if you even botherd to watch the video at question, but the thing is that it seem impossible to dodge a missile once soldier gets a lockon which also seems very easy to get. This means that it takes almost no skill to destroy aircrafts and on the other hand no amount of skill can save the flyers from guided missiles. Again this only seems to be the case judging from that gameplay video. What I would like is to make it just possible for the flyers to dodge the missile and only if they can perform some serious evasive manuvers. This could add a lot more skill to controling an aircraft.

To get back to the discussion, the question still is: how will vehicles get ammunition? I doubt that field ops will be dealing tank shells in their ammo boxes. So I suppose that vehicles will have to travel back to base to some area where they can resupply. It would make sense if they could also get repairs in that area as well, since they have to travel so much out of their way to get there.
Also engy that repairs vehicles from inside sounds very imbalanced to me :cough:bf2:cough:

If I’m not mistaken, those could be used to confuse a rocket in locked-on state.

There are flares?

Still I’d rather if the pilot had to use skill to avoid missiles

I am for laser targeted missiles. A lot of skill and no flare ilness.

AA is one of the things BF2142 got right. The only people who hate it are those who gamed the system in BF2 and were totally overpowered.

AA should tear the crap out of aircraft with little effort. Missiles that lock on should actually lock on and hit the aircraft. Aircraft are flimsy, heavily armed vehicles. The easy control of the BF2142 aifcraft makes up for this. It’s just a different model, and anyone who yearns for the days of flying, nigh-on indestructible tanks can go back and fly the UH60 Blackhawk around Mashtuur City for an hour before that was (reasonably) patched out of ridiculousness.
