1.02 BUGS [post your bugs here]

Bugs with 1.02 I have seen , experienced till now.

1- Weapons sometimes do not reload
(happened with thompson and fg-42 on axis with me)
2- Some players can’t pick up medic/ammo packs , they run on top of it and can not pick
(never happnened to me)
3- Dropped to spectator when new map starts.
(happened to me)
?4? - I have been noticing a lot os screen tearing since the patch. Could be only my imagination , but I am just saying it here , so if somebody else is also noticing this we can confirm if its a bug or not. I have tried to enable v-sync both on my graphic card drive and on game menu , but still getting a lot os tearing.

Please lets keep this post clean and only relate bug with some explanation , so we can help devs.

ps: Patch was installed over a new install of ET , my system is
Windows Xp pro
Athlon 1800+
1 gig ram
Geforce 4 ti 4600 with 43.45 detonator.

dunno if it’s the same as what you experience, but I have experienced tearing/texture flickering before with v1.01. It was gone later and now with v1.02 I haven’t seen it yet, so your problem might not be patch related.

this always happens to me on fuel dump

additional bugs i’ve found:

5 - class is changed to soldier w-thompson/mp40 when reaching level 4 light weapons

6 - panzerfaust & heavy weapons 4: changes to nades after shooting panz (instead of smg)

This happened to me once right after patching. Hasn’t happened again since.

IIRC it always did this anyway. I think shrub fixed it.

Server disconnect messages are broken: The message always reads: “Server disconnected for unknown reason” (also in the 1.01 server patch but not in the unpatched server version).

HTTP/FTP redirected map download crashes the client 20 seconds after last map download finishes.

dunno if it’s my computer or soemthing, but on some servers, i’m getting “Invalid CD-Key unable to Auth” or something like that.

But most servers are okay, just a few give me that message (coincidentally, those most of those few servers are the low ping ones on my list)

Strange though.
Just played for several hours straight and didn’t encounter any of those bugs.

i get the “server disconnected for unknown reason” alot, and “server connection timed out” even though it’s already loading gamestate!??

Well I too sometimes play without experiencing any of those.
But they do happen , and the most odd thing its they happen ramdomly , i still couldnt figure out what trigger any of those problems.

I would like to hear any coments from the dev’s :stuck_out_tongue: Are we gonna see any new patch soon.
They kiked to limbo is mainly anoying.

1- Another “bug” I found , they disarming dynamite display , fix tank , the one that also appear when u try to steal enemy clothes are not displaying for me.

another bug: when switching between classes using limbo menu you can end up in the spectators for a second, after which you then spawn as the selected class. Or, if teams are full (or possibly locked, haven’t tested) you are stuck in the spectators.

This patch is worse than the original imo.

Now we have to potentially wait another 3 months for another patch that might fix some things, but introduce more bugs :frowning:

Thankgod for bani and shrub fixing things.

I havn`t had a single problem up to now, I patched on Sunday and played for 5 hours straight yesterday with no problems at all. My ETCONFIG file is only altered for speechbinds and standard controls…shoot…run etc, I edited the original ETCONFIG and copy + pasted it into every profile folder and run the game with the batch file…

Agree with you , never had any problem with et b4 … Now me and a lot of players are having these problems …
But well :drink: :drink:
IT IS FREE :stuck_out_tongue:

Some moderato could stick this post so dev’s and other ppl do not start others threads with bugs already reported.

Had no problems before the patch, but the game has become progressively unstable since…

Bugs experienced, some already mentioned.

  1. Unable as a med to pick up ANY packs except manually. This includes ammo and med packs from other players, etc.

  2. Gun gets stuck in loop during reload after first clip. Have experienced this in several classes, forces a restart because you’re a sitting duck.

  3. Not tested extensively, but mines seemed buggy now. While playing as eng (VERY experienced) was having my own mines go off AFTER very carefully stepping around them. Might have misstepped, but was pretty certain I stepped safely the 3 times it happened.

From my read of the forums, it appears that the change to voting (disallowing kick votes on opposing team) is a deliberate change, not a bug.

This is a BAD decision, IMHO.

(If there is a new server setting to allow votes on opposing team members, I apologize for this rant.)

I play on a public server frequented by a large number of regulars, all very interested in good, fun game and team play and with low tolerance for jerks. Voting is used extensively on the server to self-police the games when there isn’t a ref around. Even when a ref is around voting is still used, as the ref hasn’t always seen the behaviour provoking the vote.

Regular players on the server use voting responsibly, the way it’s supposed to be used. We’re quick to vote off spawn-campers and other annoyances that interfere with a fun matchup, but we’ll also give players the benefit of the doubt if they protest their innocence, until overwhelming evidence. If a vote IS called, players are expected to quickly mention WHY they called it. If they don’t, other players are quick to ask why BEFORE they vote. It takes seconds to type the few letters it takes to explain an offense.

In short, the system works the way it’s supposed to.

Now you’ve crippled it with the elimination of votes on the opposing team.

Most offenses, such as spawn-camping, are committed upon the opposing team, but now that team has to ask their competitor to kick the offender. The other team will invariably ask for an explanation, etc. This all sounds reasonable, but it adds up to mounting a discussion in the middle of a match, totally disrupting gameplay! Plus, because of the greater hassle and disruption a vote entails, players will end up putting up with more misbehaviour before requesting a vote.

A system that previously took care of offenders in seconds in most cases will now require much longer, even if it is only a couple minutes, and likely end up allowing greater periods of misbehaviour before the offenders are kicked. And that is IF the offender is kicked at all. I won’t even get into how having 2 or 3 jerks on the same team, or a couple of clan members sticking together no matter what the offense, can render the new voting almost useless (as they won’t vote against their jerk team member).

Since the patch, a server that was a great place to play, enjoyed by a large number of regular players of a wide variety of styles and personalities, has been racked with long periods of horrid gameplay as the voting system has been rendered useless in policing offending noobs.
A server that was full of players who enjoyed solid, fun teamplay and were eager to welcome new players to the server who felt the same, have come to quickly resent new players on the server as there are so many griefers WHO CAN NOW OFTEN ONLY BE KICKED WITH GREAT HASSLE, if at all.

The server used to be policed by regular players often simply reminding the newcomers of the reasonable rules, and it worked because new players quickly learned that the voting system was effective. That rarely works now.

I can understand why the change was made. Voting could be abused by jerks as well. However, that is just another reasons to kick the jerk, not cripple the voting.

Instead of asking, or simply waiting, for players to start using voting responsibly, the developers have crippled voting and allowed the problems voting was meant to address to grow worse as a result.

You have gotten rid of cars to deal with the drunk drivers.

Please, go back to full voting. Players must be expected and allowed to play responsibly, both using voting responsibly, and kicking the jerks who ruin the gameplay for everyone else.

If not, it’s like encouraging them to be jerks, because only the jerks will want to play under such a limited system that allows them to run rampant.

Other than the stated above…
-Highlighint the fireteam does not bring up the icon over the fireteam members.
-I seem to crash at the start of EVERY map!

Wha?? Spawn-camping is an offense? Offenses can be committed on the other team? What are you blapping about?

The whole point is that you hurt the other team. If there’s anything you can do to hurt enemies that offends or is exploitive then that is a bug in the game and should be fixed directly. If you weren’t supposed to attack enemies at their spawn, that blue shield on their heads would last 5 more seconds.

Anyway, the statement “most offenses are committed on the enemy team” is circular reasoning. If not for the voting system already working properly, then “most offenses” would be made up of TKing, griefing, and otherwise working against your own team’s chance for victory. (I’ve seen it happen! Whole 32 player servers rendered useless for multiple hours because of a flamerthrower spawn TKing, if voting was disabled)

Kick-voting is meant to stop this, and the fact that you have the luxury to imagine that spawncamping the enemies is an “offense” is a testament to the fact that it’s working.

PS. Unless the player is verbally abusive with chat messages or something that everyone gets to read. But that’s why there is a Mute vote…

I agree with pamper about the kick vote. Players annoying the own team can be kicked, the other team is the enemy, no harm in hurting them.

Spawn raping is (IMHO) only a problem on very unbalanced teams where kick votes won’t help anyway.

slow computers(like mine) still keeps kills and deaths over to the next map if map starts before your computer has loaded map. This makes top fragger scores inaccurate. prepatch feature also

You cannot change your weapon at all (happens very rarely)

When you select server when querying servers, it doesnt stick as a selected server. For example you double click some server and you end up in some other server since there come new servers to the top of the list between your clicks and this moved your selected server downwards the list and second click was on some other server. Also if you click join server button there is exactly same problem, selected server doesnt stay as a selected. You need to wait for querying ALL servers before you can be 100% sure to end up in correct server.

Serverlist would also need some additional filters like mods and maps(maybe even beginner servers?). When you arrange your servers by maps, servers with one map should be arranged by ping. These things would make server choosing perfect.
