(murka) #45

intel e8500 3.8ghz(stock cooler btw)
corsair 2x2gb ddr2-800mhz
ati hd4850

Honestly, most custom maps run at ~2x more fps than vanilla maps.

(light_sh4v0r) #46

Murka, is your config on here already? Because custom maps run crap for me, same gfx card and comparable memory (4x1 800 OCZ)

(iwound) #47

i have a computer thats all you need to know.
tony gave you some good advice about base maps.
as a mapper it all comes down to the specs of the base maps.
try and keep to those and you will be ok.
SD have already done the hard work for you and compressed it into just a few easy to use debug commands.

Geforce 7950 GT
Win XP

At least thatā€™s what the device manager thingy says. Maybe itā€™s lying. I wouldnā€™t know.

Hahhaa, cheers mate :slight_smile: We are almost identical :smiley:

We are the future of high-FPS teabagging!

(Tanzverbot) #56

standard fov, resolution is 1280x960, i think.

(Coliseum) #57

Core 2 6320 @ 2.8 Ghz
1x2 GB Mushkin XP2-6400 (1 dimm of a matched pair, fried the other one :frowning: )
GA-P35-DS4 (bios F14)
Ati Radeon HD 4870 1 GB

Vista Home Premium 64 bit

Fov=90
Res=1680x1050

(Ashog) #58

Hmm, still after all of those years I am unsure whether the incresed fov (e.g. 110) decreases accuracyā€¦
It surely boosts your surroundings awareness, butā€¦dunnoā€¦

(Coliseum) #59

For me, it does, especially my mid-range game suffers. I played at fov 110 for a long time, but a couple of hundred hours back I reset it to 90 and it definitively improved my game. More recently I set ui_showgun back to 1 too. Back 2 basics.

(INF3RN0) #60

90 FTW. I even go as far as using a 5:4 ratio on my widescreen :).
