Your opinion on the new event cards?

(ImSploosh) #1

It appears they haven’t listened to our requests in regards to changing up the event a bit. The chances are still extremely slim, too slim. We also can’t buy guaranteed event cases. I feel like if the events continue this way, they’re just pointless. If you do not play A LOT, you will not get a card. Even if you do play a lot, you still might not get one… and that’s just ONE.

I received 4 Containment War cards during the last event. 3 from the normal .3% cases, and then 1 guaranteed case. I got extremely lucky though and I played a lot. I just think that the current system is awful. Loyal players aren’t rewarded which sucks. I’d like to see some changes made so at the very least we have a better chance of receiving cases.

What are your opinions/ideas about this event?

(Jostabeere) #2

I don’t really care, nor do I have strong feelings one way or the other about them. They’re ugly. Character skins are obsoloete since your hands are still default in 1st person and brown weapons are ugly. Christmas has so much potential in terms of skins, and they chose brown. WTF.
I am not really mad about the actual aquisition. 0.3% for non-casher is stupid, but reasonable.
The skins should remain a rarity if we get trading somedays. Whoring them out for money or for free would just be bad.

I’ve heard they’re pretty ugly. If they are indeed brown, that’s awful. I was hoping for maybe a red/green/white combination, or something like that. There’s tons of options, as you said.

I only find 0.3% awfully low because it makes them too rare. When Dirty Bomb is out of beta, I’m sure there will be more players. It would be nice if the people who stuck around were able to show off their shiny skins they received during old events. They would still be a rarity as people quit and what not. Plus, there aren’t that many people playing Dirty Bomb as it is.

Just my opinion though. I don’t want them to be insanely common either, but I just wish there was a different system in place to obtain them rather than praying to RNGesus.

(Runeforce) #4

I wish that one guaranteed event case would be given to all that logged in during that event.

(ImSploosh) #5

Same here man. There’s already a thread with that suggestion:
http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/21557/1-free-special-edition-card#latest

It’s sad that they’re repeating the issues brought up during the Meltdown Event.

It’s also sad seeing this game take a turn for the worse. I knew that sooner or later it would turn into a faulty cash-grab when considering Nexon is behind it as well. Most, if not all free-to-play games in the past few years have turned into this.

I don’t mind microtransactions in free games if they’re reasonable and actually make the company money. I haven’t seen any stats on how much money they’re making off their current business model so I don’t know. I’m just speaking from a personal/gamer perspective. Also from a business perspective. You want to make people feel like they’re getting a good deal so they’ll buy something, and often times, buy more of it.

^Sorry for the tangent. :X

One given for everyone is stupid if they become tradeable in the future.

I guess you inadvertently just made the perfect case against ever implementing trading.

It’s nothing new. I already posted this multiple times in “we need trading” threads. This is why I think they need to change the card system or restrict trading.

(N8o) #9

I don’t really care.

I care even less since half the cases I get are “eaten” anyways and an “Unexpected Error Occurred” every time I open a case.

That error isn’t unexpected.

(Aazhyd) #10

I bought quite a lot during the CW event, but this is just the same all over again. The changes of getting something useful are abysmally small, so I don’t bother.

I also wonder why they do 2 similar events so close after each other. Surely this will lead to diminishing returns.

(Backuplight) #11

Events like this should be almost constant, it’s a great way for them to make money. The way they’re pitching them is weird, however - not to mention expensive. Sooner or later the people willing to drop that much money on this stuff will dry up.

The skins are, unfortunately, somewhat meh again. Weapon skins are far more appealing than merc skins to me, and the weapon skins have been lacklustre so far. I’d like to think they heard our feedback from the last event but it was too late to do much with that feedback for this - I guess we’ll see in the next few months.

(Ballto) #12

needs a better drop rate

(BananaSlug) #13

idk i really like them especially the brown wood on timmik and i think those ugly sweaters are funny but those skins arent that great on all of the mercs, same with weapons

Well yeah, that’s definitely true. I wasn’t thinking about the tradeable aspect because I’ve never played a F2P FPS with trading D:

Giving 1 away isn’t the best solution of course, but it’s better than the current system.

Make them XP or hour based and you’re set.

Then people will bitch around that it’s too hard to get them. Since they have to be hard to earn or otherwise it will be the same but with a bit more investment.

(SteelMailbox) #17

They look cool.
Too bad I will never have one.

They should be somewhat difficult to obtain, but the current RNG system is awful. :stuck_out_tongue: I’d much rather have them based on XP or hours played.

This is where other games handle it better by making multiple new skins available for a limited time only, and have some be rarer than others. Just variations on the event cards would work fine, with some having fancier gun skins than others. Problem being, Dirty Bomb is already too RNG heavy, so it’s not like they can just add in that system.

It’s clear by now they’re trying to avoid just doing what every other game does, though, so I guess we suck it up and see. RNG looks like it’s here to stay, and elite cases will remain brutal until the money dries up.

(uWotm8-AU) #20

Do not like, not tempted to buy an elite bundle at all.

The weapon skin looks horrible in game.
