Your Favourite Map

It was a close race between Container City and Shipyard, but Shipyard won in the end. I like the look of the map, and I really like all the different side paths and indoor areas, as well as the large amount of vertical…ness.

I just really like maps that you can actually explore, ya know?

Terminal, because its a big map (easy to get kills)
Been thinking a bit about Refuel.
I think the map would be much more fun and also doable for attack if all objectives were available at the same time. There’s no logical order in them anyway, repairing a fuelpump or hacking crane controls can easily be done while blowing a door for some hydraulic fluid. That would make the map more open, attracting attention away from just the door. It would also stimulate coordination from both teams. Might not work in pubs, but with 2 proper teams it’d make for an interesting map I think.
Hmm this could be interesting. It would need other slight tweeks though.

I see Security Tower has took the lead by a bit and SD should really look at optimizing it somehow. Right now thats the only map I cant enjoy at all, too low fps and annoying choppiness.

I guess ppl who voted Sec Tower own some 2000€ rigs and think the map is awesome when everyone else seems to be so easy to frag (due to their low fps).

CC is my favorite map, simply because it reminds me of “Beach” from RTCW.

(light_sh4v0r) #86

Ohai, long time no see

(UltimateKilla) #87

My fav map is the one wherew the sound shuts off and u realize they spent $50 on a game with maps that are broken.

My favorite map in terms of fun is definitely CCity. the terrain has lots of little nooks and crannies that people do not notice (like the sniper perch right above the first blockade the security has to blow up) that can make you feel awesome. it’s also fun when the bot has to go through a container tunnel that is quite difficult for both sides. you have people moshing around the bot in the tunnel, and yet you can still go through the side rooms and start sabotaging the other teams side (especially the resistance side with the crane, lots of places to just plain annoy those guys). i like that it is shrunk down a bit with more complexity in the side passages, and it seems to be the only map where GLs are feasable because everyone is bunched togeather. i hope this helps!

(Conq) #89

Reactor, the game is pretty much over after the objective gets hacked but everything leading up to that is a lot of fun. It’s very open which encourages people to use more than just sub-machine guns and the objective’s central location lets both teams start on even footing.

(Nex) #90

Aquarium probably, cause its the only one that gives me decent fps…

I like them all, basically. What I really like is the organic architecture of the Ark, so any and all Ark maps are my favorite to play for aesthetic reasons. I can play with crates anytime. Ark architecture, I can only get in Brink!

I also have two points of criticism:

As has already been mentioned, the ease at which the Resistance can dominate the first section of Container City and thus fish-in-a-barrel the enemy as they come from spawn is unacceptable - at least, this is the case with Bots on Hard, it presents no challenge. The map should be tweaked with a third exit added, to allow people (bots) to get out of original spawn.

Second, any map (and there are several) where there is a lot of running which leads to “Corpse Bridging” as Tycho from Penny Arcade calls it, needs to be tweaked somehow. Remember the saying that “the farther you have to run, the quicker you die when you get there”. What can I say, Battlefield:BC2 spoiled me forever. Squad spawning is a revolutionary innovation, and while it may not suit Brink, something needs to be done about these distances.

I voted for Reactor because I win on that map whether I am playing as Resistance or Security (i.e., it seems balanced to me), and I like the first set of objectives the most.

(BioSnark) #92

I wanna change my vote to resort now that the hack obj is a contest. Best looking map with reasonable vertical elements and mixed long and short ranges. Even includes tree with brightskin.

(Iramaj) #93

Security Tower. I love the various levels and multiple routes everyone. The entire map seems to be used and I feel it is one of the most balanced and cool maps. So many nooks and crannies that can be utilized. I also like the set of missions: demolition, hacking, carry objective and escort.

(Schwarzeis) #94

I love playing Security Tower, both on offense and defense :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t know why really… So I can’t explain why :frowning:

(Kurushi) #95

I voted Security tower because there’s plenty of objectives. Don’t like to see Terminal down there though, it’s a good map

(Tetra) #96

When being on the attacking team: pretty much all of the maps suck.

(Psygnosis.) #97

i’ve voted Terminal ! I like this map especially the Defense part !

(ECGxFranky) #98

I would have to say 5v5 on Reactor seems to have the most enjoyment. The spawns are close enough that you can get easily organized with your teammates. Also, the map is small enough that you can accomplish quite a bit of game play in a less amount of time.

That said, after watching competition where they were not allowed to de-hack the ventilation system, seem to make it quite a bit more “fair” which overall made the match better.

(madamonkey1990) #99

i chose shipyar because its a small map but theres a lot of good places to go

(Hdserialkiller) #100

Container city is the best. Its the only map that truly encourages u to use the objective wheel. There are constantly things to do besides get jammed up in a bottleneck.
