Security Tower, because the escort objective on that one is my favorite objective. I also like the wall.
Your Favourite Map
Because of the missing forward spawn dynamic none of them are as good as the better ET and ETQW maps. Brink maps just aren’t as fun.
Capturing a command post which buffs your team is neat, and it’s obviously an important objective, but it doesn’t hold the same weight as capturing or losing a forward spawn.
IMO SD made a mistake to simplify things to the point where they are now gone.
I like Security Tower the most because there are so many alternate flanking routes and the circumstances truly change depending on body type. If I’m a heavy I’ll run those stairs if I’m light I’ll climb those boxes. I love the spawn flanking routes that go everywhere and are intuitive.
My favorite thing to do in security tower is how you can hop railings and get anywhere and climb cross the “catwalk” like crosses. And I love that you can hide on the stairs as security and shoot grenades from the lobster into the room with the safe from below while hiding on the stairs. Right where that hole in the grating is you can launch grenades through there and mess up everyone’s day until your team arrives to stop them.
And then the first area and last I guess when you are escorting is intense. Trying to take cover and keep your eyes in the back of your head if you’re on the ground. Trying to get a good angle from above. Dodging grenades before they go off and trying to man the machine guns all the while hoping there’s no one behind you. That map is intense.
I chose reactor because i felt it was the most balanced, looking at the new stats site I was almost right. Resort just pips it by a percent, most the other maps are a good 10% or more to the defending teams
I’m actually surprised that Reactor and Resort are more even than Aquarium and Terminal. They’re much harder to attack on in my experience. I guess I make a better cop than freedom fighter~
Aquarium is pretty looking, one of the more balanced maps, and has those vents that nobody except me and maybe a dozen other people know about.
my favorite maps are Container City (as Security) Resort and Security Tower (Very Dynamic with lots of routes, and strategies for both sides)
Refuel is really starting to be a favorite too. Lots of open space and many routes to and from objectives. And the ending is cool.
Reactor is a cool looking map and I like the art feel of the environment. The hack maps stand out for me because I like the tension when trying to get it done. I like being on Offense more than Defense on most maps.
Yeah, its about 3 times quicker to diffuse than 5 bar hack.
It really deal-breaks a lot of maps with hack objectives like Reactor/Shipyard(If its the 5% of times Sec gets to the second stage).
Actually being a Map thread, I want to cast my opinions on the two What-if maps. They’re just too easy to defend. The high balcony in reactor overlooking the two doors in. Shipyard can put up 2 barricades and its still a small platform in the middle unlike Container City when the Crane is raised up.
on shipyard if your a light there are 2 very hard trick jumps you can make to get over to the ledge that is above the side barricade.
Know what you mean man. i can get some awsome caltrops and sticky kills by bouncin’ them of the clear wall to where my enimies are. the best part is it can be utilized by security AND resistance
Indeed. After I found that vent I went on to explore the other maps. Not too many paths as hidden as that one though. I hope the DLC maps have plenty of neat things to explore. That’s one of the problems with some of the maps. They’re huge, and awesome, but during matches you’re either at the objective or heading towards it, and some parts of the map therefore don’t get much traffic, if any.
True. I use the vents. I have repaired the lift but never used it, strangely. Must try it today.
Heh, I remember the first time I repaired the lift and used it. Didn’t help my team at all…
On the other hand, it can be quite handy to the Resistance as a way to jump down from the upper lounge room to the lower lounge room.
Container City because it’s got the most side objectives, most use of the SMART system, and just the most fun to me.
Herandar, I finally used the lift last night! It does add an interesting element for a Heavy!
Security Tower because it’s the only one that actually utilises the entire map. It’s Brink’s Goldrush, the way you need to interpret your locations constantly change depending on the phase of the map. Then there’s the huge diversity between scales of combat, one moment it’s really compact and claustrophobic the other moment it’s really wide and happening at a long range.
It also caters the best to all body-types. Even heavies get a lot of vertical freedom with the stacked furniture.
Doesn’t mean it could still use some tweaking but it’s definitely the best thing.
+1
The open areas where escorting Nachaiev allow good use of the 6-shooter grenade launcher
I’d also like to add that on Container City, there are countless times where the security forces are locked down in their spawn. On both sides when this happens I think it sucks. With a little longer spawn immunity for security or a bit more distance between the spawn and the door, or even some alternate route/place to hide it would calm things down a bit.
Appologies if this comment is in the wrong place
Refuel and security tower are the best for me like say before they use all the map
Aquarium is really nice to but in 2 part like this I dont really like
Reactor need a little tweak on the uper door to be a very cool map
and Container city and Resort need a tweak on the security and resistance spawn
only 1 or 2 exit … to easy to be powned for the spawnners
REACTOR <3
Love the way it looks, love the way it’s set out. First objective is great fun to attack & defend, things can get pretty chaotic in the stairwell area in the centre. 2nd objective area is pretty expansive, and has plenty of space to crawl and sneak around.
