Your Favourite Map

(A.i) #41

Security tower, except for the last stage (as resistance) that is only doable if your team is well coordinated.
Sometimes its frustrating to run all the way from spawn to the escort guy when he is beyond the gates, just to be killed when you reach him and repeat the process.

(dommafia) #42

I voted for aquarium but I regret it, my favorite map is actually Security Tower, I dont know why but it feels like an rtcw map.

(Deadwalking) #43

I like all the maps. There isnt really any one that stands out to me, or that I think could run as a 24/7 map.

Have been digging Refuel since yesterdays patch and having audio.

And the Spawn Camping on CCity is really a bummer cause overall the map is fun.

refuel, aquarium, The helicopter part of resort (heli on top of tree thing)
I like maps with:
-no hack objectives - imo balance the defuse time and we’ll talk
-no or short escort sections
-3 routes to the objective. The third route can be blown by HE charge. I think think of this happening much in Brink tbh. Also, alternative high risk routes. You pull it off, then glory. But bigger risk of getting ass raped if the defense is paying attention. The elevator in aquarium is a good example.
-balanced spawn times
-maps that work in three dimensions
-maps where the defense doesn’t spawn 5 seconds from the objective or right behind the objective. In short, if the offense gets a plant down, then then defense has to fight THROUGH the remaining offensive players to defuse/whatever.
-honestly, sections of maps that create last second plants/defuses/doc runs. Those are the OMG moments.

(crazyfoolish) #45

IMO hacking should be slightly faster. It is an interesting and dynamic objective. Just a bit too hard.

(tokamak) #46

The speed is okay, multiple operatives can make it go faster. It’s just too easy to let it reset.

(Overgear) #47

Yeah, its about 3 times quicker to diffuse than 5 bar hack.
It really deal-breaks a lot of maps with hack objectives like Reactor/Shipyard(If its the 5% of times Sec gets to the second stage).
Actually being a Map thread, I want to cast my opinions on the two What-if maps. They’re just too easy to defend. The high balcony in reactor overlooking the two doors in. Shipyard can put up 2 barricades and its still a small platform in the middle unlike Container City when the Crane is raised up.

Shipyard all the way.

Very cool map.

(TheDuplex) #52

I like Shipyard, because you have so much possibillitys and a wide map to god, hide and sneak…

Second i like Container City, its straight forward, nice routes… and i like to escort the bot! :stuck_out_tongue: But i think, the security spawn point need one more “sneaky” spawn entry to the battlefield. Like a small route far to the left or something! but thats another point of discussion!

(tokamak) #53

Shipyard has a lot of space that rarely gets used.

(kilL_888) #54

i just noticed that. saw some places ive never seen before. was pretty cool actually. i had this feeling i discovered something one has never seen before. and then i captured a command post with another buddy who apparently followed me.

(Zekariah) #55

Reactor: From a defensive standpoint, this map is the perfect setup. Although, offensively…it is a bastard!

(Kinjal) #56

im not selected any cuz they are not tested or balanced.
for example:
Container city - spawn rape (there are 2 broken spawns for security)
Refuel - totaly unbalanced, if defending team is not 100% noobs its imposible to win
Shipyard - how many times u win this map playing security? i can honestly say - 1 time
Reactor - i wonder, u ever tested dehack?

and on, and on

(Bettik) #57

Dammit, I voted wrong :frowning: I meant to go for Shipyard. Yes, that’s right, I like shipyard. I think it requires the most teamwork on offense and utilizes all the classes equally.

Let’s face it, defense is pretty much the same on every map, and that’s why I prefer the more interesting offensive maps. Though, with the potential frequency that people will destroy the blockades to the crane control, it also provides a nice change of pace on defense for engineers to rebuild them.

I’d really love to see more push-and-pull type maps where both teams can gain ground by being offensive.

(Dopaminergic) #58

If it weren’t for what I feel is overpowered reverse-hacking, I’d say Trainyard. This is probably because I’ve been playing operative mostly lately and I feel like that map is the most open and has the most layers and arborization of paths compared to most other maps which are just Enclosed Corridor Choke Points - The Game.

Agreed. This game needs the Capture Point style maps of TF2.

(Protector) #60

One thing needs to be taken into consideration I think when picking your favourite map is looking at it from both sides because whilst if your mainly resistance you will enjoy shipyard because its easy to defend, if you play mainly security this is probs the worst map.
