Yes, and how do I use commands/configs to remove all but that text AND the crosshair (for making frag movies)? Those two pieces of information is really the most basic, when you watch movies (maybe also the “health-meter”, e.g. showing how much health is left after a duel).

Actually, all I need is clear screen (like draw2d 0) but with the text “You killed…” intact, because the crosshair can be applied afterwards (in the movie editing programme, i.e. just a little red dot in the centre of the screen).
EDIT: Ah, I see that you refer to Iffys classic image below! That image has helped me so many times, in RtCW, in preparing for clan matches, when making frag movies etc. He was a well structured and extemely user-friendly tutor already then. it must be… 3 years ago now… time flies.

cg_centertime (default ‘5’) was cheat protected.
con_notifytime (default ‘7’???) didn’t seem to do anything.

When playing a demo cheats are enabled so you’ll be able to use that cvar… if you just want to test it then just load the map with devmap.
con_notifytime is how long text is displayed such as echos and console kill text “blah blah was killed by whatshisface’s mo40”, the centertime cvar should adjust how long the centre frag message stays on screen.
i think its a misunderstanding that cg_centertime is cheatprotected … it makes no sense… think it got mixed up with \centerview, that was the command for reseting your vertical viewangle… it should not be cheatprotected.

Is con_notifytime suppose to control the text on the screen or in the console itself? Either way, how come its default value is ‘7’?`That makes no sense to me, as all other time values are in milliseconds. As for the “X kills Y” text: b_popupstaytime controls that.
What I want is to control for how long the “You killed…” text appears in the middle of the screen (default is way too long), and since I’m not making a video (Loffy is–thanks for hijacking my thread ;)), it does matter that one of these commands are cheat protected.

well sorry…i should just have written: cg_centertime IS the var u want to use… but cant,… cause its cheatprotected… wich imo is not correct.
Either way, how come its default value is 5? Five milliseconds? What sucks is that I have to play on a server with cheats ENABLED in order to see if it works.

Update: Seemed to work, but it’s hard to tell what the values mean. 1 looks to be longer than a second, and a lower value doesn’t seem to have any impact.
