Wallruns were not put into the game because they tried to make the parkour as realistic as possible, and wallrunning has no practical use. After the first step (wallhop) you gain nothing from wallrunning because you have to push off of the wall to gain friction. That is, unless you are on a convex wall, of which there are very few in Brink.

Not to say that you cant wallrun, it can be done for flair, but you gain nothing from it. Brink has Parkour (efficient movement), not Freeruning (art of movement).

Gunz is more freerunning inspired, and very over the top and impractical for combat. Not that realism is required for a game, just that realism was attempted with the Parkour in brink.

Somersaults were not included because they didn’t want to take control of the camera away from the player, so they made slides work in a similar manner. You can break your falls with a slide. They break from reality here, but the spirit of the somersault is still there IMO.

As far as not having obstacles and stuff around the environments would probably still be pretty much the same w/o SMART so I guess I fail to see your point. The obstacles would remain so that the environment doesn’t look bland, empty, and boring. Apparently you think environments in shooters (even those w/o SMART) should just be completely empty buildings and wide open empty outdoor spaces…

I agree with both of these statements. The environments in Brink are much more interesting than most games because they can pretty much put objects in as required to make it more immersive.

In addition, the SMART button removes some of the thought put into controls allowing you to focus on the game more. As far as SMART goes in this respect, i think they nailed it. OP may be right questioning if they utilized it to it’s fullest, but it is super intuitive and does what they said it would.

i love the game and if you disagree thats fine but running around these here threads and putting out there that this game is 100% trash and isnt worth a buy will NOT be tolerated! :mad:

and really the more you do that less people will buy the game and i cannot condone this behavior.

It would be better the less people buy this game. I know that you think this game is great. And like 3/10 people think so. So basically it’s 30% chance that each person will like the game =/

(You know the number is a lot lower. If you peeked out of this forum, brink is one of those games that everyone is laughing at).
