"You are no longer able to *complete objective*" What is going on here???

Anyone else encountering this problem when using objectives? I get the message that I’m no longer able to complete the objective and it drops the objective for me. It does this for seemingly no reason at all and it does it commonly. I then have to, annoyingly, reopen my objectives wheel to reactivate the exact same objective. I have been killed while trying to do this.

I thought maybe, when doing escort missions, that the person I was escorting opened up their objectives wheel and choose another objective - but this didn’t make sense because I was immediately able to reactivate the escort objective.

With capturing command posts, I just had it happen where I was sitting right next to the command post, looking directly at it about to capture it and it tells me “You are no longer able to capture the enemy health command post.” Ok, well why the **** not!?. I’m looking right the hell at it, it seems to me I still am able to capture it.

Srsly, someone please tell me what’s going on here!

Throwing me off in-game too, yes.
I’ve only seen it once, so the context of it is vague.

Maybe it’s a miscommunication like, “Gaurd” for offense.
“Gaurd explosive” would be better,
“Clear area for soldiers to plant explosives” would be best.

I like how nobody cares about this. It’s probably because this game is just full of imbeciles who don’t even bother to use the objectives wheel - the key feature of the entire friggen game.

This is my biggest complaint about the objective system. It doesn’t inform you well enough when an objective is completed or has moved, and it often will reset your objective to be nothing at all. I know it happens to many others too, as there are a lot of times where the entire team is at one objective zone, when that objective is already done with, allowing the other team clear passage to the end.

Yeah I find it a bit jarring sometimes. Especially when I have revive nearest teammate, and it keeps resetting the ‘downed teammate’ to white, so now downed teammates don’t think I’m actually coming to raise them.

I thought the main points of the objective wheel were:

  1. to guide you to the objective.

  2. to let your teammates know what you’re doing

Are you worried about the extra exp you get for using the wheel? I don’t think that matters to most people.

1)“You can no longer Guard the Crane”

  1. Check rest of screen. Crane is highlighted in yellow. Progress bar is filling.

  2. Continue as before, but with a precious half second wasted wondering what the hell just happened.

  3. Repeat from step 1.

I’ve only noticed when escorting an NPC and he becomes incapacitated. This makes sense.

The game does this exact issue to me all the time. At first I thought it was because the objective was already done (capturing comm posts, repairing XYZ) or someone had started on it (planting HE charge), but a quick check of the wheel and it’s still available and it’s confirmed by a look at the objective (if I’m there). It bugs the hell out of me because I have to stop looking at what I am doing to reset the objective.

Bumping this because it’s a really common problem to me.
It’ll drop objectives while I’m doing them or running to them. It doesn’t discriminate.

I’m hoping therell be a fix soon.
And while we’re at it, please make the objective wheel a bit clearer; when you’re new to the game the objective will be to “Guard the explosive” for both teams with the solider bomb icon. Needs to be changed to Plant/Guard soldier and Prevent bomb placement/Diffuse/Guard Engineer.

I noticed objectives sometimes dropping, but I didn’t really care, look at an ‘objective’ hit the objective wheel and now that is your objective… I don’t really actively open up the wheel and browse the objectives (takes too long)

I had this shortly after respawning, being told as an Engineer that I could no longer defend the primary objective. After being a bit confused and heading to the same place anyway, sure enough the objective is still in tact and still required defending. Odd :slight_smile:

EDIT: I think I’ve seen it twice now, so not very often at all - the first time was a couple of days after launch, so I didn’t exactly know what I was doing anyway! :slight_smile:

It’s probably because the max amount of people doing the same objective is reached which means you can no longer get an xp bonus for it. It’s just phrased really poorly.

Only a certain amount of people get an exp bonus for doing objectives?

I swear most of the time I’m only the one going to hack turrets or capture posts and it still goes. It’s like 8 times every round

It happens when your chosen objective changes status, for example the NPC you’re escorting gets incapacitated or revived.

Obviously what should be happening is that you continue with the same objective, even if the details of what needs to be done changed slightly.
