Yet another proof that sticky bombs are glitched.

(Eox) #1

So I was watching on of Sniffs’s awesome videos, when suddenly :

Your mind isn’t playing you tricks : those two stuck sticky bombs just disappeared for litterally no reason. I guess that Aura was a magician or something. That glitch can litterally affect some games negatively.

I didn’t saw it mentionned in the devstream resume found on Reddit, so I hope it’s something the devs are aware. I know that some fixes for augments not working are coming (making Lock On useful basically, so A31 on Fletcher will become even more awesome), but I didn’t saw anything about Fletcher’s sticky bombs. I doubt that this will be the only bug that will be fixed though, so there’s hope.

Credits to @Sniff for the video (get well soon pal !).

Oh well that obviously happened because the game wants u to get better at shooting because its a FPS. With this in mind the game has helpfully removed the players explosives before they could kill someone. The game doesnt want to go depriving the player of the chance to practice their aim and shooting after all

(XavienX) #3

I died so many times cause of that.

(Jojack) #4

It takes a lot more skill to stick a moving target with a slow moving projectile than it does to point and click.

(RuleofBooKz) #5

except they dont stick it direct on a player 99% of the time from what ive seen - they throw the sticky on the floor or wall to do splash and most often than not in a fight

(Jojack) #6

The blast radius on stickies is so small that unless you stick or have multiples set as traps they don’t do anything. The only time stickies really affect a match is if the Fletcher can reliably stick enemies.

(_Sniff_) #7

I’m finding on the fly sticky traps to be a great tactic against Phantom a great tactic.

(Jojack) #8

To remove the shield? Or do you mean to get the phantom to chase, then poop sticky bombs and blow them as he follows?

(bumbertyr) #9

i just minigun him

(_Sniff_) #10

This is how I do it.

If cloaked a phantom runs at you.

  1. Fling sticky bombs in his direction. If the first one hits wait until he uncloaks for full damage. If the first bomb misses you have created your exit route.

2.Throw your second sticky down on the ground while running at/passed the phantom. Wall jumping is great here.

3aThis is where you choose if you think your enemy will be fooled. You either draw your detonator for quicker detonation time for greater preciseness.

3bOr you draw your empire 9 and start shooting them if they notice your sticky bombs and/or start shooting you.

When I can I’ll show this in action. I currently only have a video clip of the first time I did it on accident.

It’s a great way to exit quickly as fletcher for about any merc. Particularly good at killing phantoms who try to sword you.

(Jojack) #11

That’s awesome. My main problem with Phantom, as Fletcher, is what happened to you later in the video. I stick the Phantom, but he kills me with the explosion by closing to melee. You definitely have to play it differently than against any other merc because of that. Most everyone else will refrain from bringing your sticky back into your face lol.

(_Sniff_) #12

You can run away and detonate at the same time. Really good if you’ve already got one stuck on phantom.

Another example of it in use.

so i finally got round to playing fletcher today and yeah it seems a few of the animations of throwing combined with “mystery animation X” results in the sticky nade just not appearing or disappearing;

Seems to happen when bat was out and running and then going to chuck but really at all sorts of times

also and sry to anyone who likes the sticky nades - i felt pretty cheap using them as they recharge pretty fast and it felt spammy to just keep throwing they at bad guys and racking up top kills on the server.

tho i dont play nader cause i think that launcher is way way to spammy also so its just my own ethics perhaps. ie. i think the skill, and primary way to get kills in the game, should be aim and shoot not using explosives / gadgets/ other stuff etc to get kills

Nader is inherently a low skill floor class, so yea don’t play her if you have ethics or whatever. I totally get what you mean, I feel bad playing Nader or Proxy.

And Fletcher’s nades are far harder to use than Fragger or Nader’s nades. Unless you Q, or quickcast, you are running around with a bomb out. It takes time to throw them, they don’t do much damage, the radius is quite small, they’re projectiles so they’re innately harder to aim, and detonation takes time. There is a lot of room for dying in there. So don’t feel too bad.

(RuleofBooKz) #16

ethics prob isnt the right word, maybe just “play style” would be a better fit

u would use something other than q to throw and e to detonate??? oh the humanity!

i might point out i didnt have a hard time getting the nade to go where i wanted them to as some have reported - thru windows. over walls etc. but yeah they are after all “sticky” so the occasional one stuck in the wrong place but they recharge so fast it wasnt an issue mostly to just have another try

(Ghosthree3) #17

Sure but if you do hit them with the first one you throw you pretty much win the fight. Unless you threw it too late or they had god tier aim.

(_Sniff_) #18

It is a lot harder than you think to hit that first bomb without them noticing you.

(Jojack) #19

This^

Even when you are flanking and they don’t see you. People that play Bonez or Sparks are constantly imploring their teammates to stand still to get med packs. It’s even harder to land a sticky than it is to hit with med packs. Even when people aren’t trying to make you miss, this game requires they move around so much that there’s no such thing as an easy “stick”.

If they do see, it’s even harder. Plus, with the amount of time it takes to throw the sticky, detonate the sticky, switch to gun and shoot…it hardly takes god like aim to take down Fletcher and his 110hp. Sometimes you don’t even have time to detonate the bomb before you die.

To say that if you stick a guy, you win 100% of the time is not accurate at all.

That feel when anyone equips the unshakable augment.
