XP rewards suggestion

Others have sort of hinted around this, but I don’t think anyone else has spelled it out.

It would be nice to have a server config option which lets you set starting and maximum level in each of the skills. That would allow people to disable the skill system completely, cap ones that were seen as overpowered, or start everyone off at max level for a bloody frag fest.

Here’s my 2 pennies:

It seems like the general feedback on the experience/skills system is that it’s a really cool system, people like it, BUT skills are earned too quickly and the rewards are too “gross”. How about something like this:

Basic experience to skill level (default)

Level 1 - 25
Level 2 - 50
Level 3 - 100
Level 4 - 200

I like nice round numbers and each skill level is progressively harder to attain. Then, add 4 game variables

g_level1multiplier - 1.0
g_level2multiplier - 1.0
g_level3multiplier - 1.0
g_level4multiplier - 1.0

This would let the server admin really customize the experience system based on their server population and types of maps. For instance, if I’m playing on Charter Comm - Miami on a Market Garden-type map (can get very long games), maybe I’d set my multipliers to 2.0, 2.0, 2.5 ,3.0 to require 50, 100, 250, and 600 EP before hitting level 4 - quite attainable in a marathon pub game - I had >250 revives on one game of Market Garden

If the server admin wanted to turn off experience or turn off certain levels, then they would set the multiplier to 0, for example, 1.0, 2.0, 0.0, 0.0. 25 points to reach level 1, 100 points to reach level 2, levels 3 and 4 not attainable.

Maybe if 0 meant unattainable, with -1 meaning no xp required to attain - that way in clan games they may choose to set

g_level1multiplier -1.0
g_level2multiplier -1.0
g_level3multiplier 0.0
g_level4multiplier 0.0

so that everyone starts at level 2 and no further level is acheivable - that would prevent any xp exploiting in clan games, Everyone gets level 2 - yet no-one gets any higher.

some method of fixing EXP levels would probably be essential for clanwar, imho :slight_smile:

also include the level in the ET-modified version of OSP’s load competition settings vote/setting, although might need to do this in patch once clan community have decided what they’d prefer it to be…
