Xp and Ranks

I was wondering would it be possible that a small part of the xp you have gained would stay (for example 3%), so that you could with time get already at the beginning of the campaign a higher rank. That way you wouldn’t need to start all over again for a new campaign. Wouldn’t it make playing the game more interesting?

people joining the server have zilch xp, whilst people staying on for a while could end up starting new campains with general

would be boring, i reach almost highest ranks (when playing as medic mainly) after 3 maps, playing on a 6 map rotation is enough for me then, otherwise it’s getting boring to 1st: never die and 2nd: kill with headshots at ridiculous distances…

The XP system was designed to enhance the gameplay not be a substitute for the map objectives. People should be concentrating more on map objectives and less on the XP.

XP is nice to have as you get new fand improved eatures but I don’t think its that important. People should concentrate on having fun and not taking the game too seriously. If they only play for XP points… then that is quite sad in my opinion.

If they release source code (SDK) for ET i’ll look at doing that. I would probebly have the server record experiance levels similar to what my JK2 mod does for each player. Other things would have to be scaled to match the gameplay though… Don’t want to players to become gods… lol.

Some people I know won’t like the idea of actual role playing in ET, but if you keep reading there are some good uses for it (especially for clans).

Only other thing needed is bots and a new gametype to make use of them. My JK2 bot code works without bot waypoints, might be partially convertable, and I noticed there’s source code now for adding bots to RTCW. I found that updating the bots in JK2 to play like real players and making single player maps function in the multiplayer game (with a slightly alterred script to suit mp) has helped my clan’s training greatly. ET is quake 3 engine, it can be done.
