Xigncode & SandBoxie

(Silvanoshi) #1

Hello again everyone,

Xigncode recently received an upgrade to begin enforcing more detections with kicks directly to the butt of those found to be altering code or memory values in Dirty Bomb. One by-product of this change is that SandBoxie will now trigger detections while Dirty Bomb is running. While SandBoxie can be used with completely legitimate intentions in mind, it’s also often used to facilitate cheating.

Please be aware that running SandBoxie and DB at the same time will result in a kick, possibly a ban. Having SandBoxie installed on your PC is fine, running it is the issue. Please ensure that SandBoxie is not running when launching Dirty Bomb.

Is it bad thing I needed to google SandBoxie to know wtf it is?

Good!

(Glottis-3D) #3

i dont know it either!

(Silvanoshi) #4

Not at all…you’re clearly fine upstanding members of the gaming community…who don’t need to isolate programs ;).

(spookify) #5

I don’t know about upstanding

BUT I will take the compliment haha! :armadillochase:

(prophett) #6

GOD FRIGGIN’ DAMN IT NOT MY SANDBOXIE!

A step in a positive direction. Hopefully it will stop some of the A-Holes we’ve been seeing in the closed beta (until they find a work-around).

Guess what, I use my PC for other things than just gaming on, it’s a bit harsh to ban people for just having an application running, why not just detect that it’s running and issue a message to please close it and try again instead of banning (or threatening to ban), I can’t be expected to check and double check my running applications every single time before playing a game, seems very over zealous.

Also Xigncode is a poormans anticheat which penalises legitimate players more than it does hackers, just get rid of it and implement a propper anticheat solution.

(Scarhand) #8

I have a hard time believing it does worse than Punkbuster.

(Nail) #9

Sandboxie was being used to isolate and run cheat engines on Nexon’s P2W games, had nothing to do with DB, we’re just collateral damage

(tokamak) #10

Damn, now there’s no way I stand any chance.

(RasteRayzeR) #11

Because you did ?

Anyway it’s good that automatic enforcements are getting into the game. As for sandboxie it’s normal not to have it running while you play. You don’t need any other program while playing.

You don’t need to, but it sure is handy not to have to close all your work to play a game and then have to start it all when you’re done. But I’m not using Sandboxie currently so it’s not a problem for me.

(RasteRayzeR) #13

99% of the folks will have chrome, firefox, some messenging tool and music in the background. That’s not a problem for the games. Protecting people running sandboxie in the background is supporting cheaters. So I believe it’s good this program is banned.

(tokamak) #14

It auto-aimed the perfect turret locations each and every time, so now I’m worthless.

(Seanza) #15

I find it great that Sandboxie’s slogan is “Trust no program”

(AssortedStuff) #16

Good that I’ve come across this thread as I use Sandboxie (for legitimate safety reasons, didn’t even know it could be used for game cheating).

I subscribe to what Mustang said.

On a side note, just saw the page for the game APB Reloaded on Steam and they just started using an anti cheat program called Fairfight. I have no idea if it’s better or worse than any other similar program BUT they say it’s server side and claim it cannot be bypassed.
Might be worth taking a look.

It was funny reading that in Titanfall cheaters don’t get banned, they just get put all together in a server to play against other cheaters. Must be fun sarcasm

(Mustang) #17

Something similar to FairFight is what I’d like to see, i.e. server side analysis of realtime player tracking data, rather than client side check if someone is running UberHaxPro.exe, we have Echo, now let’s use it to weed out the hackers.

(stealth6) #18

Agree with what’s said above. A client side AC is needed too, but as soon as it starts becoming an inconvenience for legitimate players it’s useless. (like in this case)

But PB is still one of the most popular alternatives to what do I know…

(Rokkamaisteri) #19

FairFight is ban system what’s based purely on data-analysis. It’s fairly efficient imho what I’ve seen it in APB as many fishy players finally appeared in banlist. Although some people complain that their bans are triggered by hardware and/or software macros from what I am not entirely sure about.

(Glottis-3D) #20

probably they shouldn’t have used those macroses, and use their own hands?
