Xbox360 players, don't get your hopes up for free DLC

(Zamininc) #1

From what I read Microsoft has a no free DLC policy or limited free DLC.

I’m no professional of xbox360 and DLC but could n SD release the DLC as an update?

(Pandajenkins) #3

Whatever you have heard is definitely not true, trust me. I have had free DLC for games before.

(Zamininc) #4

I’m no professional of xbox360 and DLC but could n SD release the DLC as an update?

I’m not an expert on that. But if they’re adding new features most likely not.

Well it was something. Valve got pissed at Microsoft about updates and DLC or something.

(DazTroyer) #5

Wouldn’t surprise me if MS charged for the dlc as Valve always said they wanted to give free content but couldn’t. However MS do have overheads to cover, so along as it ain’t Activision (robbing bar stewards) prices it ain’t all bad.

(Spez) #6

I’ll happily pay for addititional DLC if Brink is crash- and lagfree.

(Pandajenkins) #7

Valve actually complained on the limits of how much DLC can be released on XBL if I recall correctly, not the pricing.

(PRIVATEGREY) #8

I’ve had free DLC before. Most recently. The first pack of Red Dead Redemption was free for all.

(Pandajenkins) #9

Fable 3 ,Bioshock, Mass Effect 2, Halo 3, there is plenty with some form of free DLC.

(badman) #10

The upcoming Brink DLC pack will be free across all platforms as stated in the blog update.

(Pandajenkins) #11

Thanks for clarifying :).

(Bakercompany) #12

Thats a lie games do it all the time.

(KnollDark) #13

Assassin’s Creed had free DLC, until the last one but that one included all the DLC and alot more so that was fine with me, it was more like an expansion pack

Okay I guess threads have to start getting hijacked now.

SD keeps closing any thread related to Xbox Lobbies and they won’t give us an answer to our #1 issue (tied with lag). I think even if you fix lag, without lobbies this game is fairly toast on Xbox.

Someone finally asked for a direct response from Splash Damage. What did we get? “There are too many threads like this” Thread Closed

So thats our answer? You just close every thread related to it? So is that a no we’re not getting lobbies?

EDIT: I would like to also clarify. I love Splash Damage. I enjoyed every developer blog I read, they all seem like really great people. I’d love to sit down with them and have a beer or two and talk about stuff. The Free DLC is an amazing thing for them to do and i’m extremely happy to tell every customer who walks in interested in Brink about it.

I really like Brink and Splash Damage, I just really want an answer on the lobby issue. I think many would agree thats fair.

(Pandajenkins) #15

I think you should stop pestering them for a start. They don’t need a million threads on the same stuff hence why they probably close them all. It also means they have noticed and I am sure they have considered it but let them do what they plan to do. The game has only been out for like a week jeez.

(Bakercompany) #16

Maybe so, but not implementing lobbies and giving Xbox users a half-assed way to find matches just isn’t fun for us bud.

I don’t know how else to explain it, not having lobbies is a massive pain in the ass.

(Calelith) #17

It was the pricing.

They refused to charge people for content PC gamers where getting for free.

Msoft charges people for DLC that has achievements and as you know to unlock the new gear on TF2 you need the achievements.

(system) #18

Free DLC in Bad Company 2, Portal 2, and others on 360.

(TheBigLebowski) #19

Well, MS has to fill their fat asses no?

(DazTroyer) #20

Thanks for that Calelith

So Op Flash : Dragon Rising was paid dlc without achievements, who was making a buck out of that lol.

It’s such a grey area its unbelievable.
