Same, I bought it the day it came out despite the negative reviews and I’ve put many hours into the game and many more I’m sure will follow.
While I’m on the topic of bad reviews I was wondering if anyone noticed Gamespy’s (IGN partner) review which gave Brink a 4/5 stars and stated " Despite these issues, all the elements are in place for Brink to become a terrific multiplayer shooter."
This shows that some reviewers looked past some of the glaring issues to see a game that could have used a little more development time, but CAN be fixed with patches.
For everyone who hates a game, there’s probably 2 or 3 people who think its fun or cool. Many people will buy games like Brink and like them regardless of how many people think its garbage.
Reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt. For example: I have no interest in Scripted Adventure games like LA NOIRE. I learned long ago from arcade games like Dragon’s Lair not to jump on board Cinematic Experience Games. Not my cup of tea. So, despite favorable reviews, I won’t be bothering with what I consider a pseudo-game.
Brink plays out different every time that you play. Sometimes you finish the level, sometimes you can’t get past the first gate. It plays out different every time. And it is more fun and challenging than the dirge of overrated or “Me Too” games.
All these reasons, and many more is why I think Brink will continue to see substantial growth in player numbers. At least on Xbox, I have noticed this.
