But I figured that alot of you play/played Quake 3 so you might be able to help out.
My Quake 3 arena bugged out not too long ago and now all teh sound is messed up, now it either makes a really annoying piercing constant sound or makes all the wrong sounds. It’s like the sounds are reallylow quality and grainy, it sounds awful. Anyone have any ideas?

hey man, in windows try going to:

Start menu -> Run -> “dxdiag” (without quotes), go to sound and tyr bringing the acceleration down one notch, if it doesnt work bring it down again, just my idea im no computer mastermind, has helped me a few times, good luck

Didnt help. See, every other game works, my copy of Q3A isnt exactly paid for either, but it worked befre. Now all of the sudden it stops.

?I noticed while i was in game that it said i was missing sound chunks…any ideas wehre i can get them?

I’d suggest you try your local chunk store :slight_smile:

or maybe just reinstall it?

Well see, around here Quake 3 isnt exactly popular…at all. and none of teh Eb games or babages carry it around here anymore. So im left with two options, buy online or just download, and since i could buy it then weait for two weeks for it to be dilivered or you know get it from a friend in an hour, i think ill get my copy from a friend who doesnt play his anymore. Besides, dont act like youve paid for every piece of software on your computer. And if you have then good for you, but im gonna go out and buy a whole bunch of shit with all that money i didnt spend on photoshop. gg

He didn’t, he just implied that it may be impolite to ask a question like this on a forum run by a developer closely affiliated with the creators of Q3A…

Now, you said it “bugged out not too long ago” so the obvious thing to do would be to just reinstall, right?

It probably bugged out because i had so many mods/skins/maps, butI tried a reinstall, but i think the problem might be the CD itself, in that case theres no point in uninstalling ands reinstalling again. Im hoping i can find a Q3 site that will have sound chunks or just misc files.

I have to say progresso is worse, that stuff tastes like hot water poured into a bowl which the diswasher failed to clean well enough, allowing old chunks of tomato and celery to float around :confused:
