Reflective fire is exactly what it says on the tin , you shoot a teammate the damage is reflected back on yourself , simple when u think about it.

By the way, current balance definitely feels more accurate with FF-on. Proxy hordes do not exist anymore, since mines suddenly become just as harmful for your teammates than they were for enemies. So you absolutely need to think before putting one on the ground. Support abilities are levelled in the same way, with kira and arty having some space to shine. People thinking fragger went into uselessness ? Try him with FF-on and notice how the ability to point your AOE suddenly become a real matter.
I’ve already said it tons of times on this forum, but the gameplay and strategy is quite shallow in db partially because of that. FF-off is truly removing a layer of gameplay depth. And that could have been a pro to make DB different from a random shooter if they had decided to keep it on at the steam release. As Szakalot said, griefers are not real matter on their own. And ranked is fcked up mainly because no one has the possibility to train outside this context.
FF on worked in previous SD titles because you had dedicated servers. I played so much ET (modified fueldump pro-mod 24/7 server for the most part) and it worked because you had admins, you had a proper system in place and bans were a thing.
So random troll A tks everyone in the start of the map rush. He gets kicked automatically.
Good. Now the enemy is in position to camp the living crap out of you, and you’re a man down until the horrendously long load/spawn-in timer lets you fill up the roster.
I’m not sure why all the rose-tinted spectacles are on concerning FF and non-administered or regulated servers. Am I forgetting some comparable game where this would actually work? And please understand the word comparable and how it pertains to the subject at hand before listing names, thanks.
meh, the vast majority of servers was unpoliced. i dont know where people get this idea ablut hordes of griefers suddenly switching full asshole mode because DB turned ff on.
its all moot, THERE IS NO EXCUSE for not giving us at least a few ff-on servers, accessible only thru server browser

This just sounds like it punishes me for doing my job and not the retard who jumps in front of me and blocking my bullets.
Sadly it is somewhat easy to see it coming regarding the already bitchy behaviour of a good amount of the playerbase. This would just give them a tool to increase the amount of player they can troll.
Reflective Fire wouldnt do any good because stupid people always manage to do the wrong thing which will get yourself, who doesn’t do anything stupid, end on the receiving side.
PS: FF wont come anyways, so well… . ‘shrugs’
Yes, it would be neat. Friendly fire really changes the feel of the game.
Of course, it shouldn’t be the default setting for servers. Maybe just special servers would have it, and they wouldn’t be reachable by the masses of people who click quick join unless they select the option somewehre.
Friendly fire would be great. Shooters are played totally differently when you have to be careful, it would make everything interesting…

For sure, to each their own, have a few servers with it. That, however, was not the original suggestion posed by OP. Just so we’re not confused.

Welp, in normal matches hell no.
But if the Devs add like, some sort of server create system, maybe there will be an option for FF, that would sound more fair rather than have random servers with FF on, god i can’t imagine the low lvls killing teammates and nobody wants to kick them out…
to the people comparing FF in a wolfenstein title to FF in DB: how many explosive devices were available to you in wolfenstein, and did they recharge every 15 seconds?
FF works in every game other than dirty bomb, because they dont have mass amounts of grenades being throw everywhere.

FF doesnt make the mines explode when a teammate walks past them, and why am i getting punished because a teammate ran after an enemy that ran into my mine?

Where do people not throw their nades in the direction of a group of enemies, and instead throw them everywhere they can? the place to throw a nade always mattered, without FF or with it.

@Herr_Hanz then why does ff work in comp/ranked? The only thing pub players need to learn is to stop spamming their abilities and use their guns.

everyone had 1-2 nades, engineers had 8, lol. or better yet, 8 rifle nades. panzerfaust, mortar, arty and airstrikes, spam was just as much a part of ET as it is in DB. just because the DB is more versatile (cauce more mercs/ abilities) doesnt mean that ET had any less spam - or have you never played seawall battery or fuel dump?

In addition to the things Szakalot already said: while you collected xp, you earned levels and you could end one match having lvl 3 heavy weapons, giving you supershort cooldown for panzerfaust or mortar, and it worked like this with every other class.
Not to mention the fact that teams in ET were often much bigger (for example 15 vs 15). It was a spamfest, trust me.
