Would you pay an ETQW update?

(scootter82) #1

I for one say YES!!! Brink has been a big disappointment and I’m curious as to how many other players out there would pay for a new official Quake Wars patch…?

(Infinitypl123) #2

It sounds like joke ;p. SD forgot about their child ;s

(Verticae) #3

Proper custom content support, better netcode, better framerate, better graphics, more serverside options? I’d easily put down a twenty for that.

(Crytiqal) #4

yea, screw BRINK DLC, make ETQW DLC

(Tandem) #5

No, I’d rather donate to Hannes for his pro-mod that so many have enjoyed.

(xTriXxy) #6

i can imagine player controlled SMART in etqw

(millerq3) #7

As long as not published by Activision ,then the twenty be well spent

(dazman76) #8

That’d be an interesting option - although I’m unsure whether Hannes could address the points Vert mentioned. Sounds like a fair bit of work

I finally got around to sorting out my general ET:QW config last night, but it was a bit late - and FPS is a no-no when I’m tired  I’ll probably try to have a few Bot games tomorrow night to get myself re-acquainted, and then it’s time for some Oh My Strogg! I also have ProMod, but I need to get the Nirvana map pack and get a feel for the differences I think.

Yeah SMART would be really useful on those big open maps…

(xTriXxy) #10

and what about close indoor fight?

If you dl the mappack I suggest you do that during weekdays, it’s pretty big and you might miss the event if you dl on sunday

I would throw in some bucks, as well.

Loving this game since early beta phase. But I doupt, we will see any future patch for ETQW.

What I always hoped for was an increase of the “internal” game mechanics framerate (not the renderer). If I understoof the developers correctly, the internal gameloop (or the network update rate) runs at 10 fps only (or was it 30?). Whatever… although you can render much more fps (especially indoors, where you exceed 300 fps or more), the movement of the models is still quite choppy. I would LOVE to see all entities move smooth as butter. Brink does a much better job here.

Being in a vehicle locks you to this low framerate as well in ETQW. Unfortunatly, this was never addressed in any of the former patches.

Another small thing:
Sometimes you cannot switch your mission, when you have more than 1 player in a fireteam.

(dazman76) #13

Will do Apples, cheers for the heads up mate

(Dthy) #14

Have to say what tandem and vert say would be nice, but the chances of that happening are nil

(Ashog) #15

further releases of etqwpro can’t help to solve the engine bugs and limitations, as well as allow simple custom content support…

(tokamak) #16

I would gladly pay the full price again for three more maps.

(Ashog) #17

you got 23.5 more new maps on Nirvana.

(Rex) #18

I would pay 50€ if a patch would bring the community back.

(tokamak) #19

Sure, and for amateur maps they’re really impressive. There’s just no way they can compete with a studio team with a hefty budget behind it. I’m not holding those maps to that standard as that would be unfair.

(.Chris.) #20

Playable stock maps:

Sewer, Salvage, Volcano and Area 22.

Playable custom maps:

Meltdown, Maridia, Canal, Radar, Andes, Viomine, ATW3, Arcis, Free City, Baserace, Hoggin and Abusir.

(Playable Brink maps, Aquarium)

Yeah, it’s unfair to compare, as it’s embarrassing for them people with the big budget and years experience to offer only a handful of nice maps compared to a dozen or so by unpaid amateurs.

Same with ET, the community out shone what the developers did over time.
