No n00bs are bullied on the BiO server (not that I have seen anyway) they are usually just shot or blown up, then leave of their own free will when they’ve had enough of repeatable spawning, running towards objective and dying
Would I be welcome on *your* server?
Well at the moment I’m playing as Wolfplayer
I was on yesterday but the server was pretty empty - I’m still having problems with my PC at as well - I’m getting incredible lag with ET, even on servers where I know I shouldn’t have a problem - oh well, I guess that’ll teach me to stop messing around with my modem - I was looking into the different types of transmission compression that can be used (I’m averaging about 1.4Kb upload for 56k) - time to reset to the factory defaults
FWIW, I actually think it’s normal for there to be some elite-ish game servers - let the best gravitate to these servers and have them become the proving grounds of the gifted and obsessive
Heya,
Yeah I used to play on Feuerfliege’s server in RTCW as SwordOfDamocles. The 2X thing is my current clan tag that I (sometimes) use. In RTCW I could have the luxury of a longer name cos i wasn’t clanned (much). Prefer to use 2X|SoD| now as an abbreviation.
Thanks to those guys recommending the BiO server - it’s because of you that the standard is what it is, and we’re grateful for that.
As far as n00bs are concerned, we rarely have to take action against them because, as the guys have said, they don’t hang around long. I’ve removed people in the past on those occasions where they clearly don’t have a clue - e.g. running around the first part of the Fuel Dump map when Allies are already attacking the second phase, but beyond that the server pretty much runs itself.
There are vast numbers of servers where n00bs are invited and we make no apology for wanting somewhere that you can play where people know what they’re doing.
Haha! Excellent! Do you remember when FireFly finally shut the server down - he put a message board up so we could all signed our names and leavet comments and abuse for each other?! I still have a maiiling list for most of the regs.
I still see ppl like SmoKingGun and Sharky (Dan4X) occasionally - I mailed 'em when I first put up a Beach server - they came , they saw, they pinned me down on the beach from the bunker and wouldn’t let me plant the damn dynamite
Between 6 and 7:30 the SD server is usually empty, maybe one or two people starting to drift in. Between 8 and 11 it’s usually either full or nearly full the entire time (7:30 - 8ish is when people start streaming in, usually). Dunno about during the day or after 11 as I’m usually at work or asleep, respectively.
All times are UK times and all statements are generalisations.

yeah BiO run a VERY tight server, lots of fun, spend half my life there

Try the et-uk.net server 213.228.215.140:27960. There is a very strict “no kick without warning” policy and also if someone is causing trouble (tking etc) the pb_kick limit is set to 5 so you can get rid of them
edit: PS We’re currently trying out a custom map campaign, it rotates between northafrican campaign and tc_dump/supplydepot/navarone.
The =ABS= Webserver has been mentioned on a thread or two. Unfortunately this server port is down at present. We are however looking at a new deal with Digital Server (.co.uk) which looks quite promising.
Hopefully the ABS server will be back with avengance within a couple of weeks. This new service provider offers more players and unlimited map and mod space.
Unfortunately it won’t be public 100% of the time as we will use it for Clan friendlies, however when it is up you can gaurantee we will try to provide an excellent gaming environment. Personally I will try to model the new server on the OLLA clan server that used to be, now that was a server man. Map and campaigns you never heard of until you visited. Brilliant clan also really had a load of fun on there.
Getting back to Splash server, it’s OK but the reason why they don’t kick noobs is cause they like to suck the XP out of em. I’ve been on the Splash server many a time, as allies with a bunch of noobs against a shed load of rambo medics. If all else fails and you just can’t get anywhere get yourself a panzer or a rifle grenade and at least when you do kill there’s often nothing left to gib and that really pisses off the rambo medics. Personally I got bored rambo medicing decades ago and would not choose the role unless the teams were evenly matched and no noobs were playing.
One day we’ll see Skinski actually play ET rather than spending his entire time whining about medics killing him.
Skinsk not whine about rambo medics? not possible i think.
Just ask him about rifle grenades, and retreat to a safe distance
