Worth the Repurchase?

(SublimeShotz) #1

Sooooo , after a loooooong wait for this game , i got it i loved it then sadly i hated it , the lag lack of party sytem clan support bugs etc made me slowly despise brink, BUT i have always week in week out come back to forums to read on updates etc , with the release of the new patch and map etc is it worth re buying brink? , i don’t want a fanboy answer “yes its amazing !!111” people said that on release and it was far from it and i was ever the optamist, i want solid truthful answers please
Re-buy? yes-no.

Brink is a great game but I am going with no, the population is almost dead takes awhile to find any human players,I’d say rent it when the DLC(it’ll be free only for 2 weeks) comes or watch reviews of the DLC and if you like it and accpet that there is not too much players playing it currently, only then you should buy it.

If you like the game but want people to play with go to http://resistanceisfutile.freeforums.org/ and add some friends.

Brink was the top selling game for the month of July at the lowered price point, so you are not alone in terms of wanting to give Brink a go or another chance. DLC is Free starting this Wednesday and is only available for 2 weeks. If that doesn’t sway you, after the Free period ends, the DLC will cost $10. So in terms of value, you could get Brink for a reduced price right now in time for the Free DLC. There is a lot of value right now. But depending on how strong your Hate for the game is, and whether or not you are willing to support an evolving new I.P. Balls in your court and your wallet. Good luck.

Worth a repurchase, yes, but I fail to see the point in selling it to begin with tbh. So maybe our tastes differ.

(Verticae) #5

If you disliked it then, you’ll dislike it now. In its current form, Brink on PC is not living up to its potential at all.

(DRiP) #6

they have yet to fix much of the things i think that made u quit in the first place, add to that the fact that the population of people playing it these days is not much more than 0. I suspect when the DLC finally does hit the population will only momentarily spike, then return to the current situation.

Oh you and your fantasy world

I dunno where you get your info but this link: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php?reg=America&date=&console=&maker= says nothing of the sort for retail, while these links:

Also show no signs of brink

So I have no clue what your talking about

To the OP: even if the game is now enjoyable for you, the community is beyond life support. Proceed with caution. I would save my money personally.

No. Its still garbage. I put it on every night hoping im wrong but its a total letdown. No players. Lag. Buy somethin else dude.

If you’re playing on any other platform aside from PS3, I say no. If you’re on PS3, I say hell yes. The PS3 community is still going strong. Plenty of people playing, almost no existent lag and fairly rare texture tearing. The of course the latest updates have complete nullified the issues with weapon balance and AI. Now more then ever, the PS3 version is the definitive version of the game. But if you’re not a PS3 user, you’re probably not going to find it worth your money, because the community is pretty much dead on 360 and already decomposing on PC.

(thesuzukimethod) #11

this.
10char

edit to add: i can vouch for the strength of the ps3 community as an active participant. It does seem to be staggering a bit on pc, and last week was one of the first weeks where the number of ps3 matches was even to the number of x360 matches…so ps3 is surging!

Whatever you reckon…

360 players are still there. Get a Green Machine and check your facts, mate.

(Smokeskin) #14

Pc is fine. No problems finding servers, server browser is great, no lag, no technical problems. Don’t believe the haters, they spread disinformation.

(damcde) #15

I would definitely say yes. They game may have some flaws, but IMO the last update fixed the majority of them, with the exception of adding lobbies. However, for PS3 (and 360) it is pretty easy to add some of the fine people on this forum to your friend list and get into full games. Furthermore, I have noticed over the last week that if I just do the standard freeplay that 90% of the time I am getting into full games (8 humans in standard mode). Personally I wish that SD would take away the Big Teams for PS3 like they did for 360 and move it back to standard. I would be willing to beat that those games would then become 8 vs. 8 :).

(wolfnemesis75) #16

I still feel Old Skool is redundant and just fragments the playlists and Competitive Mode should be Stopwatch with Competitive settings. I feel Stopwatch should be highlighted better by moving it into the objective portion so all selections are in one section/menu. So that the playlists and mode breakdown would be more streamlined like this:

Stopwatch Big Team
Stopwatch Competitive (Ranked)
Standard
Big Team
Custom

Further. It’d be nice to be able to change the mode to Stopwatch right in the menu in-between matches rather than have to back out and set-up a new match.

I would agree with that list except that I would combine Standard and Big Teams together mainly because Mmy biggest problem with the standard mode is that you get a total of 8 humans in the lobby and 6 or 7 of them switch to the same team, making it really unbalanced and honestly a lot less fun IMO. I think that for most people the lag problem has been fixed enough that there is no need to have the Standard 4v.4 human mode therefore combining it with the Big Teams I think would result in a lot more rooms that have 10-16 people in it and prevent people from all switching to one team. JMTC :).

Trolololololololol. PS3 has the biggest community of players in Brink. Every other day there are 4 or so threads from 360 users complaining that there’s never any PvP games going, and they can’t find people to play with. Translation? Not many people are playing. Further translation? As I said in my 1st post “the community is pretty much dead”. Doesn’t matter how many of you are keeping it on life support, in 3 months time…you’ll all have moved on to the next game, whereas PS3 players will still be playing Brink, because there’s more of us actually playing in the 1st place. Get over it, “mate”.

(wolfnemesis75) #19

I agree. Standard should be 16 player. Then there is no need for Big Teams. Same thing ideally.

(SebaSOFT) #20

many have said “this is how Brink should have been released” so, Brink is pretty much in good state right now…
