Just remember that the term ‘byzantine’ has more meanings than just a style of architecture. It can also mean twisted and convoluted as in byzantine logic, etc. In any case, this is certainly not meant to be a faithful recreation of the city, nor did I really try. But, as you said, it’s my map and it’s unlikely that I’m going to redo a bunch of stuff at this point 
FWIW, I have no problems with people giving feedback on how the map actually compares to the real city. For some of the same reasons, I did change the name, though byzantine refers to the “twisted and convoluted” definition more than the “style of architecture” definition.
More so, I just wanted to make a map that I could have fun with and I have some very fond memories of Istanbul and Turkey, so I used that as a very loose starting point and started to map.
