Work at Splash Damage: Artists and Programmers Wanted
… But I didn’t want to be a game developer, anyway. I wanted to be… a LUMBERJACK!
Valves snack room is fine example and I can see some ideas we could borrow, however I noticed a distinct lack of donuts and caek, which would be a cold turkey experience for any SD’s moving there.
Donuts are required fuel for SD peeps, life without eating junk with a hole in it, just doesn’t fire the fun synapses!
ex-actly.
donuts and stroyent…erm.coffee FTW !!!
What GCSE qualifications do you need to be admitted to an art position? Thanks.
Im not sure if GCSE’s are what they are looking for. I think they’re looking for A-Levels/Uni grades in courses etc.
Essential Skills and Experience
* In-depth knowledge of 3D Studio Max and real-time pipelines
* Demonstrable scripting ability in Maxscript, Python and/or MEL
* Demonstrable experience of modeling and shader creation
* Ability to communicate complex ideas across disciplines effectively
* Strong problem-solving abilities
* Rigging experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
* 3+ years game development experience in art-related roles
* Experience in aspects of animation
* Knowledge of particle FX tools and post-processing
you don’t need to complete any courses, you need to demonstate the skills and knowledge required
Of course the courses help, since they show that you have knowledge in that area (e.g. an artist having studied art, a programmer having studied computing/IT etc.) But like Nail said, they’re no necessary
99.99% of the people need the courses, but if you’re that other .01% go for it, skills will always win over theory
