Just discovered them also.
Looks great.
Can’t wait to play the game.

SD at it’s best…
I’d better start mapping for D3 to get the hang of it in time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Computer gaming world did a much better preview with better pics, anyone have a link to scans of thoes?

:([/quote]What?
They say optimum, and most maps played on 64 player servers are too crowded for what they were designed imho.
They don’t say it’s impossible to play it with more, just you will have the best experience with that count.

Good idea, better off getting into quake4 rather than doom3, as it’s slightly newer, and learning some sort of modelling package like maya

Ratty Redemption and I have been talking a little bit about usingBLENDER3d(free) for D3/Q4 base’d modelling over at leveldesign.nl .
http://www.leveldesign.nl/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=27

Expect to find some good things in that BLENDER section in time to come.

Just wondering aloud… the technology is said to allow up to 6GB single texture (which uses 8MB of memory at runtime, blah blah).

Scary !
How much HDD space would I need to install ET:QW ? My /home and /home2 partitions are around 30GB each. That’s not to say I have both completely free.

edit: Thanks a lot for Badger Truck ! You’re my hero !

I don’t want more, I want less. :stuck_out_tongue:

Having the game designed for large servers together with increased CPU and (I assume) higher bandwidth requirement per player means hosting an “optimum server” will be expensive. I just hope it plays good enough on smaller servers to become popular.

awesome news

(EB) #17

I am curious about this Saltehism.

(Nail) #18

methinks it might be 'cause they are the 2 latest members of the SD tapir corral

just assuming that Zombie had his location listed as Australia(prolly home), when he is NOW in England(at least in spirit)

(ouroboro) #19

Those scans make my loins happy. And the British wit of the article writers made me smile. Woos and yays all around!
