WolfMap's show is over

(Berzerkr) #1

To make it short:

WolfMap will be closed in January 2011.

This month you can use the site as download archive, download now before it’s to late.
There will be no news for this month, but next year you can read on www.WolfMap.de a full statement why we closed the site.

As last goodbye we created a list (html) with all currently active Wolfenstein sites.

Happy downloading & A happy new year wish you
uber_noob, Tomacco & Berzerkr

this makes me really sad -
i followed over years the news on wolfmap
wolfmap was my favourite download resource

thx for many years of nice news and sharing a lot of files with the community.

good luck in future!

(Bonghead) #3

NOOOooooo…:frowning:

(Scennative) #4

and why? -.-

(UJERebel) #5

ooooooooooooooo… :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

(AnthraX.etat) #6

Bad, we will miss you.
Without knowing the reasons maybe i unterstand this step instead of myself was out from ET over a year.
Good luck an i hope we see you again

Schade, da werden wir aber etwas vermissen.
Obwohl ich die Gründe (noch) nicht kenne, kann ich es eventuell nachvollziehen, zumal ich selbst über ein Jahr abwesend war. In diesem Sinne, alles Gute weiterhin. Vielleicht sieht man sich wieder

(stealth6) #7

is this a bad thing or a good thing?
Without the reason it’s hard to tell…

Are you closing because you are moving to a new URL, or joining forces with another resource site

Or are you really completely stopping with ET etc…

(acQu) #8

Followed your news as well since i am around. Was always a good view on what is actually happening in the community mapping/modding wise. So best of luck to you and thank you for all the devotion you put into the game and letting the community take part.

(YourFather_CZ) #9

Thank you for your greatly provided services, I’ll miss you! :-/

(hellreturn) #10

Berzerkr, is it possible to get all files rather then keep downloading each one 1 by 1? I would like to create alternative option to your website, to preserve what you have collected and provided to community.

Will it be possible for you, to help me so we can provide the community same things?

Thanks and thanks for what you have done for community for this many years.

Thanks once again! I always downloaded maps from your website! I will miss it!

(Nail) #11

yeah, I got lots of space and bandwidth, I’d like a copy of the downloads too

was thinking of shutting our site down recently, not much traffic since the last time we got hacked. but I decided to keep it up at least till Brink releases, but I also decided to keep a W:ET repository on our FTP server no matter what we do with the site

(IndyJones) #12

that’s sad news for et community, this is the best et resource page till today.

but nothing lasts forever… :frowning:

(Scrupus) #13

Very sad, but guess you have your reasons :frowning:

wolfmap.de has been like a cliff in the W:ET (and QW) world for as long as I can remember playing ET - whenever I missed a file or pak, that was always the first place to look. And sometimes just browsing the archives searching for unknown and interesting maps. I’ve downloaded tons of pk3’s from your site during the years, so this is a sad moment indeed.

So what to say - thank you all on the wolfmap.de team for an excellent file service during the years - you created and maintained a great site, and you will be missed deeply!

btw I would also love to mirror your archive, and if you could turn on directory indexing on the filebase server it would be much easier to mirror :slight_smile:

(Paul) #14

For information for everyone: the full mirror is about 35GB and is already copied to the Trackbase server.

I will post a public link for that today, I still have to copy and paste some things.

On trackbase there is also the full maplist including pictures, and we are going to link the files to them and more, if anyone wants to help/work on this he/she can contact me.

Edit 16:01 GMT+1
Currently the full mirror is public but I decided not to post the link here because I would like to control it if tons of people will directly copy this amount of data. If you PM me or mail to info@trackbase.net I will provide the mirror to everyone that needs it.

Keep in mind we will provide ALL files HERE after the weekends.

Yes… :stuck_out_tongue: (it’s perl)

This will either brute force through any amount of file ids at wolfmap or get the links from a specified “category” page, such as the maps page… :slight_smile:

#!/usr/bin/perl -w
use strict;
use LWP::UserAgent;

# Directly checks all files between 0 and $max_file_id
my $brute_force = 0;
my $max_file_id = 10000;

# Alternative to brute force, takes all links from a category page
my $cat_id = 5;

my $ua = LWP::UserAgent->new;

$ua->agent("Just something to prevent hacking attempt message");

my $base_dl = "http://www.wolfmap.de/download.php?file_id=";
my $base_id = "http://wolfmap.de/files.php?cat_id=";

if ($brute_force)
{
	for (my $i = 0; $i < $max_file_id; $i++)
	{
		print "[$i] .. ";
		dl_file($i);
		print "
";
	}
}
else
{
	my $page = $base_id . $cat_id;

	my $res = $ua->get($page);

	if ($res->is_success)
	{
		my $data = $res->content;
		my $x = 0;
		while($data =~ /file_id=(\d+)">/g)
		{
			dl_file($1);
		}
	}
}

sub dl_file
{
	my $i = shift;

	my $res = $ua->get($base_dl . $i);

	if ($res->is_success)
	{
		my $data = $res->content;

		if ($data =~ /href="(.+?)">Hier/)
		{
			my $directlink = $1;

			if ($directlink =~ /ET\/([^\/]+)\/(.+?)$/)
			{
				my $folder = $1;
				my $filename = $2;

				my $dir = "C:/wolfmaprip/". $folder;

				if (!-d $dir)
				{
					mkdir($dir)
				}

				if (!-e "$dir/$filename")
				{
					my $dl = $ua->mirror($directlink, "$dir/$filename");
					if ($dl->is_success)
					{
						print "Downloaded $filename
";
					}
					else
					{
						print "Failed to download $filename
";
					}
				}
				else
				{
					print "Skipped $dir/$filename
";
				}
			}
			else
			{
				print "Failed to get folder or filename for $directlink
";
			}
		}
	}
}

Yeh, I just was told on xfire. It sucks. I would really like to know the reason. If its a time thing, then I cant help. If its a money/resources thing, I will help out. If its something else… damn…

We used your RSS and it always was the first place to go for files. Isn’t there a way to take over the entire site, domain, files, etc ?

In january everyone can read the reasons why we closed the site. We don’t have a problem with money or resources, nor it’s a problem of taking time to care about the site anymore.
There is no way to take over the entire site, because without the old team WolfMap wouldn’t be the same as before. We’ve seen often enough that former good sites where got a new staff turned from good to bad/dead, and after 10 years we putted our effort in this site we don’t want that the same happens to it.
So we decided to hand out the filebase to a few other sites, a few mirrors are good for the community, so hopefully nothing get lost.

(Magic) #18

Thanks for your effort through the years - sad to see it go.

(Blowfish) #19

Ok, to bad. Just needed to know, in case we could have helped out… :wink:

(MrLego) #20

Sad news to see it going down - it’s been a great resource.

A big thanks to Berzerkr, Tomacco & uber_noob for putting in the effort for all of these years.

Another thank you for allowing the archive to be mirrored.
