WolfET remasterized!!!

(Edzio) #21

And what’s about rights of “Enemy Territory” trademark? Who is the owner of it? SD/id/Bethesda?

(badman) #22

That trademark is owned by id Software/ZeniMax.

(Kinjal) #23

i think the right answer is - Activision Blizzard…ops im wrong

so rights for Wolfenstein, ET, ETQW, Doom, Quake trademarks in ID hands?

Beach was my favorite map. I literally spend hours everyday, playing only that map. Seems that newer games don’t tend to hold the same map design philosophies, with the existence of DLC and gamers claiming “more is better.” I’ll take quality over quantity any day.

same boat

(Mar1o) #26

would like to see something like RTCW/ET, why not on steam, with workshop support and more stuff

(iwound) #27

why is that, iv not touched ue either playing or mapping, what is special or better about it. compared to say engine of qw.

(iwound) #28

when i win the lotto il be calling them first then sd second so the righteous owners have it.

(KlausMorgenholz) #29

Mapping for UnrealEngine is IMHO waaaaaaaaay easier than mapping for idtech games.

(Dashiva) #30

Really? I find it to take 10 times as long to get anything done right. You have to make all the static meshes with all the normal maps and work with a billion different texture variables in the material editor. I am remaking beach right now in UDK and looking at the old map it’s just so…simple. It’s maybe 5 textures for the entire interior.

(El_Guapo) #31

Enemy Territory is the finest FPS ever imho. If you look at the game play speed, classes, objectives and sheer enjoyment of the game then you’d be struggling to beat it. I get totally immersed in ET in a way that QW, Brink, COD or MoH could never achieve.

Immersion is the key word. If you find THAT formula again you’re laughing all the way to a gamer’s heart!

wow, i cant wait to see this game ready. i’m tired of thease games liek BO2 MW2 and so on… theas slow movement and realistic aiming sucks.

remember , that ET ~ 8 years ago was one of the top multiplayer game! and now it still have lots of servers!
i would really like to see the same game atmosphere, with the same movement, shooting, objectives, that you have to fight through the map, moving from one defensive spot to another. game was awesome, because you always knew where your oponent will try to defend ( Like a tank which you have to steal) and the oponent knew, that he can camp in objective are, and try to stop the invaders. this made ET game so dynamic.

also ET was great because it was in WW2 timeline. and i think everyone like to shoot ww2 wepons, but you can make the same thing by adding scrappled guns and or home modifyed guns. and to make like rebels, peacekeepers fighting bandits invaders.

i would really like to see, that game built by creators of enemy territory made a game which is most popular free to play game in 2013-14

p.s. sorry for my bad english

I’m hopeful this doesn’t turn out to be a flop like brink. I don’t get why game devs cant give the community what they want. This all stopped with cod4. Now it seems every company keeps putting out garbage every year and the console groupies gobble it up. Hopefully Warchest/Splash Damage doesn’t take that road. I would pay good money to see a game the likes of RTCW/ET again.

It’s hard to get it exactly alike. There are so many variables that differ between engines, like physics calculations and everything. I’ve gotten it down to having the same movements speeds and roughly the same general physics but the way UDK (or Cryengine for that matter) does a weapon is completely different from ET or RtCW. Also different engines make different assumptions about lag and player interpolations, which changes the feel of everything.

(uraganotkirki) #36

Unreal Engine (unfortunately I dont know which version are they using) or probably even UDK, is very flexible. It can create arcady shooting mechanics and deep realism like Red Orchestra. It can also go in the middle ground with some basic realism and arcade action, for example Killing Floor. It shares and to an extent offers more modding than IDTECH.

Unfortunately, IDTECH is now ancient technology and can only so far, while Unreal Engine and UDK are updated on a regular basis.

Just take a look at the number of games for Unreal Engine 2 and 3 and for IDTECH 4 and 5.
Short of Quake Wars, there isn’t a good game for IDTECH 4 and 5. RAGE (idtech 5) was a bloody disaster.

This move also will feature departure from Bethesda I believe, as you well know SD will be mentors at MSUC (make something unreal) so yeah.
EPIC games, here we come. ;3
Please make Dirty Bomb very similar to Wolf ET!!! it doesn’t matter the time in the history, the great things about Wolf ET are the missions and classes.

Waiting for a new ET… soon…
?? Are you serious? o.O From just 2 sec of gameplay i have seen CoD style running really…

where are the speed in run, the jumps in run, the strafe during fight? lost with Brink maybe? If this is the situation, i hope SD never develop Another ET or ETQW. You Wanna see these game “Callofdutized” ? I hope not. XD

(KlausMorgenholz) #38

Well, I have to disagree with heXen. I’m just waiting for the next ET or ETQW. Best shooters i have ever played. They made me stick to the screen for hours and hours AND ETQW was the only game ever that I got to play competitively. Fond memories!

(SKTLZ) #39
we need a new competitive fps
