WolfET remasterized!!!

(bytecode) #1

Please make Dirty Bomb very similar to Wolf ET!!! it doesn’t matter the time in the history, the great things about Wolf ET are the missions and classes.

Waiting for a new ET… soon…

(Penetraitor) #2

I would play the exact same ET with updated graphics and physics. I was a rifle-nade assassin. I still get flashbacks to that and wolf. I could play an updated pixel for pixel remake of beach forever.

One thing straight: BRINK wasn’t Wolf: ET. It shouldn’t be an excuse to keep away from the Wolf: ET formula. Brink had a large number of issues and we were all aware of them. We all know and love Wolf: ET. I am a little scared that this wont be Wolf: ET though, but I will still post here, hoping that we get some AWESOME action like back in the day.

What I expect from this game:

  • Competitive team-based objective modes, just like in Wolf: ET
  • Outstanding quality, I know you have switched engines from idtech to UE, which is a good thing
  • PC tweaks, user-hosted dedicated servers (Linux), Linux version of the game (big bonus), mod support from day 0
  • NO PUNKBUSTER, LORD!!! Please use a different form of anti-cheating software.
  • We don’t really need aim-down-the-sights too, there’s no reason to be in the game.

I am willing to pay on kickstarter in supoprt of the game, I have no issues in paying for camos, skins, etc, anything that does not disbalance the game.

Here’s a list of bull**** that I wouldn’t pay for, though:

  • map packs
  • weapons
  • buying ingame currency (if used at all, though it shouldn’t IMO)

It’s still very early to predict the failure of this game and Wolf: ET is the perfect free-to-play game ever, so here’s hoping that Splashdamage will stay away from the bad elements and produce a strong title in 2013.

I will follow this everywhere I can and please do share more info with us when possible, please do let us know if you are looking for community feedback through the development process, etc.

Good luck, you know we are 100% psyched about this!

Let me be clear. This is the MOST important thing. More important than classes, #of weapons, maps, character models, whatever. Nothing is more important than movement and shooting mechanics that match W:ET! That is the main reason Brink failed.

(Dope) #15

You need Q3 engine for this. But, as I said before, Unreal engine very nice, and there wont be any big problems, to revive ET - ETQW (whatever) mechanics.

(Dashiva) #16

I’m working on porting Wolf to UDK at the moment and it’s easy to modify to make it feel like the original, so the question is not the engine it’s whether or not SD can focus on making a good game this time around.

(DarkangelUK) #17

That would be interesting to try, see how it feels compared to the original.

(warbie) #18

Amen to that.

And while we’re at it, please, no iron sights. Think of all the hassle it’ll save not having to nerf firing from the hip accuracy so iron sights become viable, and then not having to try and balance the utterly random and chance based results.

First off, we wouldn’t shut off support for one of our older games just because there’s something new coming out. Being gamers ourselves, it’s just not the way we operate as a company.

That said, the Wolf:ET master server is run by id/Bethesda, so that one’s completely beyond our reach.
