Wolf ETmessages

I was playing on a server and for some reason I was kicked by punkbuster, the message read

Server Disconnected - You have been kicked via Punkbuster (for 5 minutes) … Cvar cl_freelook = 1
what does that mean? the last thing I did was lay another medic kit, I didn’t enter anything into the console… Another thing I opften get is when I click on connect to IP and type in a valid server it gives me
Connecting to: (ip adress)xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Welcome to Enemy Territory
player (some random numer, in this paticular case 3242645) Awaiting Connection…1(2,3,4, etc. etc.)

CLIENT_UNKNOWN_TO_AUTH

but when I find it on the listing and double-click on the name it works fine. It happens alot of the time when entering an IP adress, sometimes it works but most times it doesn’t. Is there anyway to fix that?

Every so often, PB checks your configuration to make sure you are compliant. It is unrelated to whatever you are doing at the time, so dropping a med pack had nothing to do with it. For some reason, PB believes that you have your cvar cl_freelook set to 1. Check your configuration file. If it is 1, set it to 0. I have no idea what this cvar is, so I am assuming its a boolean value!

Is there a good list and explanation of the known cvars for ET?

Re: CLIENT_UNKNOWN_TO_AUTH

AIUI this means that your machine was unable to make a connection to the main authorisation server. This could be due to a network fault or the server being down. When this has happened to me (infrequently, and only on RtCW, never so far on ET) it has usually been a temporary problem lasting only a few seconds.

That sounds like a misconfigured server to me. Most servers require that cl_freelook be 1. Setting it to 0 is used to lock your aim at head level. If you were kicked for having it set to 1, I would just leave.

If it said cl_freelock is 0, must be one, the go and turn on freelook in the options menu.
