I am having a problem with joining game servers. The “Awaiting Challenge” number never stops, it just keeps increasing. Usually it just went up to 2, but now it ever stops. And another thing, I can only join bot servers.

Just today I decided to uninstall the game and reinstall it to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn’t. Now it is even more worse than before because it wont download any missing files, it will just exit to the main menu and display an error that some files were missing. The “Download Missing Files” in the options is On, and I am not running and firewalls in the background, so I don’t know what the problem is. I thought it was some of the mods I downloaded, but then I shouldn’t be the only one with this problem then…

Any help on this will be greatly appericated.

have you patched to the latest version http://www.splashdamage.com/?page_id=14

also run pbweb.exe in the pb folder

Check your firewall isn’t blocking it for any reason. On occasion my firewall will block a program if any changes have been made to it at all. It just usually lets me know that changes have been made and do i still want to allow access.

use pbsetup instead of pbweb, usually fixes it

The problem still isn’t fixed.

I ran pbweb.exe and it downloaded a few .dlls and updated Punk Buster, but that still didn’t fix the problem. And I cannot find “pbsetup” that Nail mentioned. And I have patched the game recently to v2.60, so is there anything else that may be affecting the game?

And another thing, I cannot join games that are playing common maps like Fuel Depot or Goldrush, only maps that I haven’t downloaded yet and are user created (it downloads it from the web automatically).

You want v2.60b.
Ensure your config has cl_allowdownload ‘1’

It seems like it is working now. Thanks a lot doodz. The “pbsetup” helped to fix it up. I am still not 100% sure if it is working properly, but I am able to join most servers now.
