[wip] tiger 2

UPDATE: Model Pack 1 Release Thread Link.

Website update: Model below does not exist. Go to link below for new models.

Models

Working on a model with milkshape. This is loosely based on the Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B, Tiger II (Sd.Kfz. 182) with Henschel turret. It was/is originally meant for me to just add a tank for rtcw.

This started out as a brushwork model in radiant and then I decided to import it to ms3d for animations. Since then I have made some structural changes. I have yet to add decals however.

Brushwork (.map) I started with.

Model currently in md3 form.

Other ss. (still pondering a good set of camo schemes)

I’m hoping to release a beta soon. That way I can get some info on extra anims and added geometry people want to see, camo schemes etc. I made the idea of doing a uv very complicated for myself by doing the animation first, but anyways that’s that.

Thats looking excellent zenith, could you post up a wire?

The wheels are current see through, is that intentional? Or you are working on filling that in (I know this is a wip, so guessing on filling in)

(Loffy) #3

Cool tank!

(Shaderman) #4

Looks nice. Don’t you want to finish my plane model? :stuck_out_tongue:

(psyco_mario) #5

WOW!

That lush!

One thing though, i dont like the camo paint youve used, i know you said about that, but hey :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, with that much skill (and shaderman persmission) do you think you could finish off his plane model?, that would be great! (you dont have to mind  )

(Bravo) #6

What plane are you wanting?

I enjoy modelling planes, am currently on with a Horsa, when I have finished that, I can knock you one up no probs.

Thanks for the encouraging remarks guys. I just wanted to drop these pics here to show what’s in store after I tweak a few things.

It looks alright but my detailing is suffering because there’s no uv map ready yet, so I’m currently tossing around camo schemes on a metal gradiant texture. Good thing is though, I havent animated the turret or added chassis fx so it’s looking good for the uv project.

The front and back wheels are spoke wheels irl, so they are meant to look that way. I could have made them alpha textures, but the project became a test bed for complex structure and the forbidden love of non shader based anims. (although it is a good practice)

@Shaderman

I can take stab at it if you want (i see you have an offer already), since it would be good practice for an aircraft model for me. I had a p-51 or a p-39 as an idea for my first though. (This tank is my first real model). I’m not an “optimization” master yet, but I’m pretty sure I can turn out a decent looking plane within the model limits.

@psyco_mario

The actual yellow scheme for the tiger 2 is not much prettier than this one, although I agree with the comment. A wrap around and smaller splotches should do the trick. I plan on going to make more than one texture, (forest, factory, night/snow).

I’ll be back hopefully not too long from now with some refinements and release a “something” version.

(Chruker) #9

I think the texture on the brushwork version looks great. Why not use that?

(zenith-ply) #10

Good ol train_m04 texture from props (rtcw), and assault trim_co4 for the treads. There are fitting issues with the train texture strips on it during placment. It did look almost perfect, but I like the practice of doing my own.

fyi model stats: (so far)

12611 verts total
7 tagged peices under 4k verts (works in game obviously)
approx 7mb total so far

niccce jagdtiger here!!! great job!!!

(zenith-ply) #12

here?

Sorry about the delay guys. Just finished up the uv on the hull.

Camo isn’t final, but I thought it looked cool with the green.

(WeeBull) #13

I think the yellow-ish color makes it a bit too bright but the model looks awesome!

(psyco_mario) #14

WOAH!

looks lush now! keep up the good work!

(onu123) #15

here as on the pictures/in the topic :banghead: :bash:

The Tiger II, or Königstiger (Bengal Tiger), was more derived from the Panther than the Tiger, in spite of its name. The design followed the same concept as the Tiger I, but was intended to be even more formidable. The Tiger II chassis supplied the basis for the Jagdtiger turretless tank destroyer.

the blueprint i used in radiant.

the jagtiger.

Technically I wouldn’t call it that, but I see the idea. One thing is for sure I’m glad you seem to like what I’ve made so far.

wow that Tank looks really nice
i hope we can see it in action… soon

Something to tool around with for a while. I’ve already got ideas, but I need info on anything you may notice wrong, etc. Feedback, suggestions appreciated. Enjoy.
