WINTER EVENT OVER?????

(Major_Slapnuts) #1

was there any notice that the winter event was ending?
I just lost 11,000 cheer points.
WTF?

(ThePigVomit) #2

Yes there was. They posted on social media sites as well as an ingame notice.

(Major_Slapnuts) #3

dirty bomb ended this 1 day early.

see below

This was ended 1 day early

NUCLEAR WINTER EVENT
FROM DECEMBER 7TH TO JANUARY 4TH
The festive season is finally upon us and while most of us are wrapping up for the cold nights ahead, London’s Mercs still aren’t getting a Winter break!

Today is January 4th. Today should be the last day?

un·til
ˌənˈtil
preposition & conjunction

  • up to (the point in time or the event mentioned).

This would imply that it would run until Jan 4, which means Jan 3 would be the last day of activity.

Nuclear Winter ends at 09:30 GMT tomorrow! We’ll also be taking down the Advanced Winter Pack from Steam. If you want that, or need to claim your FREE rewards - you’re running out of time.

The above was posted On Wednesday. 9:30 GMT is 4:30 PM on the east coast of the US where I am at. the winter event should still be running.

the event should still be running for 4 more hours.

…that would be 4:30 -AM- on the east coast.

09:30 is 9:30AM

EST is in the timezone GMT -5

That’s a 5 hour difference, so 09:30 - 5 hours is 04:30, or 4:30 AM

Well, this is quite the learning experience huh?
Sucks though, man. Sorry to hear all that went to waste :/.

(ImSploosh) #10

Yeah, I thought it was supposed to be 4:30 P.M. for the East Coast too. It didn’t end at 4:30 A.M. either so I just assumed. Thankfully I got everything I needed to before it ended and only had 700 points left over. Wish they’d add a timer or reminder back in-game like they have for other events. Only one reminder was given and that was the day before. Ah well, the skins aren’t too pretty anyways. But I was just in it for the trinkets!

Seems like you got a major slap in your nuts @Major_Slapnuts

Badum tss!

No, if a game was on sale from December 7th until January 4th, I would assume people could buy it for the sale price on January 4th.

I’m so mad I could punch a baby

(Teflon Love) #14

This time it almost looked like SD would manage to do an event where nobody complained about the way the event was handled. Guaranteed cases (even for the casual players), trinkets obtainable with event currency, a sensible drop rate of 2%, quite reasonable cheer prices, the option to buy cheers for money.

But for some reason they decided to not add a countdown this time, and now a couple of people are angry again. :frowning:

(Major_Slapnuts) #15

With everything that has happened, I am now officially announcing my retirement from the game of Dirty Bomb. Having played over 600 hours since I downloaded it, it is time to move on. Dirty Bomb will always hold a special place in my heart.
I will now be focusing my extra time on COD WWII.
Thank You, Good Night and God Bless you all.

I mean… businesses are open from a time UNTIL a time

So… a business that has hours from 9am to 10pm will close at 10pm… that doesn’t mean 10pm is the last hour.

Sorry you got burned man but they did precisely as they advertised.

The real question is why they don’t leave the event currency store open for a week or two after the event ends. Every other thing does it, why not them?

They just like being contrarians I guess.

afaik, all times are based on Greenwich Mean Time and always have been, just like the real world

(Begin2018) #18

An in-game count down would be nice for players. But who care about players?

This is correct. Let’s not forget that timezones are a thing. The OP probably got bamboozled by that.

Just like cash…spend it as soon as you get it.
