Win7 64 bits problem

(Patriotqube) #1

I bought myself a new and very nice pc a while ago

since then ive had some problems

I’m used to have my stuff running on XP Pro and are therefor not that used to Win7 and ofc i get some problems with my ET.

actually i have 3 problems right now

  1. where to put my etkey?
  2. where to put my config?
  3. get my game to update my /etpro/etconsole.log so i can use my statsprogram after scrims

ofc i have been googling alot and i discovere that my etkey shopuld be placed in “c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\ET\etmain” i did and also in my normal place as im used to with XP, that didnt work :frowning:

I placed my cfg in etmain and in mod directory and also in “c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\ET\etmain” all im getting is couln’t execute autoexec.cfg when im trying in console.

we had a scrim the other day and i wanted to do a stats like this --> http://et.qubenet.net/et/stats/Ahk_vs_Qubenet_Sun_Jun_15_2008.html
But my etconsole.log dosent get written to.

Hope someone here has the answers  otherwise il have to move back to xp pro im afraid

reputation points for all help

Hello,

When I switched from WinXP to Win7, I just copy/pasted my installation and it worked, as well as Win7 to Win7 64bits last week when my laptop died; Have you tried copy/pasta?

Or you can can copy your whole config and put it in a autoexec.cfg at the base of the mods you use to play?

  1. Make sure your PB is enabled.

install et into a custom directory or disable uac (for the etpro log file) or play as admin ^

From this, an advice: just put programs in Program Files; Games and others, just make a Games folder at the base of C:, so no troubles

Ah, after re-reading, also try to start as admin (Right clic, Properties, Compatibility, check the option at the bottom to always launch the shortcut as admin), not suggested yet but in some cases vital (TZAC, since you said you scrim, need to be started as admin, even if out of Program Files).

This might help with some of your 64 bit 7 problems. It was made specifically for it.
