[win/mac QW accounts] ok, tough question

(Ciabs) #1

now, the premises:

  • I have a windows pc

  • I also have a pc version of QW, with which I created my account

  • Now I’m buying a macbook pro, on which I’d like to play QW without resorting to bootcamp (ie: I need a mac version of the game)

  • I’d like to use my old account to play onto the macbook

  • I also would like to purchase another license of the game, to be able to play with my brother (he’d ble playing with the new account on the windows pc - for which I already have the QW client - and I’d be playing on my macbook using my old account)

now, what I wanted to know is:

If I buy a mac version of QW, will I be able to log onto it with my old account from the pc version…?

and more important, would my brother be able to create a new account to be used with the pc version, using the mac version’s code…?

thinking of it, I could always create the new account on the mac, and just switch logins after activation, but I still need to know if something like this is possible…

the alternatives I’ve thought about aren’t as simple, I could also “provide” myself a copy of the mac QW client and logging on to it with the old account, and just buy a new one for the pc, but I’d rather do things cleanly…

oh, btw: yes, I’m kinda attached to my old account and gamertag, so I’d use a new account for myself as a last resort only… :stuck_out_tongue:

anyone who can lend me a hand will be most appreciated, TIA for any help then…

Unless whoever did the mac port seriously messed with the account system it should be possible.

better try the official game forums

its more an Activision / Aspyr question

I also asked on the enemyterritory.com forums, do you think it’s best to post it on act/asp ones too?

I shouldn’t think that the accounts system is different in the Mac version, but Aspyr would know for sure.
