Will you play any non-tc mod beside ETPro?

It’s not a cs replica but it certainly has a lot of its characteristics.

If you’d add the aim down the sight thing to cs and remove the crosshair, you’d end up with something very similar to TCE.

Personally I wouldn’t care much if it was another mod or not provided it was A) ingame downloadable, i.e. I really don’t care to download and install mods and updates to them all the time, enough with etpro there, and B) the server where the mod in question had some motivation for me to play there other than the mod itself, i.e. I like RtCW and ET as they are, and really don’t see any big need for mods so for me it would have to be some fantastic maps that no other server would offer. However if it would be a non-tc mod it would probly not have any original maps that couldn’t be run on an etpro server (I think?) and so I really don’t see the incitement to play there ?

Or, weeelll, ok, if it was similar to the rtcw bikini-mod I would consider it… :stuck_out_tongue: (just kidding… :banana:, but I do like the RtCW WildWest mod very much though that is a tc rather than a non-tc mod, methinks)

For me it’s not a matter of the other mods adding bugs - they don’t necissarily. It’s the fact that etpro FIXES so many bugs that were in ET, and adds the better antilag/antiwarp/antihaX.

I’d reverse my vote above to a resounding ‘YEESSSS!!!’ if whatever the ‘other mod’ was fixed all the stock ET bugs that etpro has, and added unlagged code and better anticheat. Unfortunately, that would now take months and months of full time work - basically the etpro team are just so far ahead that it’s going to be REALLY hard for anyone to ‘catch up’ on bugs enough that their mod will be worth playing. I think the etpro team would be reasonably open to helping other mod teams solve the NECISSARY bugs - like the buffer overflows that allow people to crash servers. If you don’t have those fixes, I won’t play the mod regardless (if you’re going for it, and I wish you gl, give #etpro on irc.freenode.net a pass about getting those buffer overflows out).

Those issues don’t apply at all for TC’s, because most are ET game-code specific things, like arty through the goldrush bank roof, prone hitboxes, etc etc etc etc. As a result, I DO enjoy playing ETF - and I’m looking forward to PoP etc.

On the other-other hand, if you had a strong theme (good enough features), you could persuade people to play it anyway. For example, maybe a national theme that will make players in your home country so patriotic they won’t care about bugs :smiley: :D. There was an Aussy mod thought about a while back - that would have gotten a few players regardless (but sadly like so many mods it didn’t actually have any people willing to put hard yards in behind it).

But gl to you, asking Q’s and making sure there’s a market/point is definately a smart move :).

Good post KingJackaL , it is definetly about few things : it can make game really much worse for players who are enjoying ETPro enhancements and bugfixes , but I am asking if anyone will enjoy ET without ETPro hitboxes/antilag/anticheat … Quality of that mod is other thing . I understand well that without quality mod no one can beat ETPro …
I think that I can forget about using ETPro enhancements , since they are developed for long time and they are supposed to make ET much better without changing gameplay …
I font know if releasing ETPro source will be good idea , since it will make a huge amount of same classed mods , BUT there will be also chance that new much better mod will raise from that … most probably it will result in a big mess…
I just wanted to ask if you can accept something next to shrubet , a mod with enought players , but surely not peak …

The ETpro team has already said they won’t release their complete source (making the anti-cheat stuff public would be an obvious non-starter). However, they have been known to share bugfixes or information on specific features if you ask nicely.

would be nice to see people play other mods other than etpro or shrub… but I highly doubt it will happen … my mod has been out for a while now and it gets zero play… one thing bothers me though… I just dont understand the willingness to play shrub with all its etmain bugs and weapon imbalance.

Depends how much fun it is, how different it is from standard ET and how much originality is involved. I dont see the point in playing a TC mod that’s more or less ET with new maps, skins and weapon models.

i think some players like all the silly stuff, and some admins like the extra stuff with shrub (afaik etadmin_mod can do most of the useful admin type stuff but its a server script that not very many servers can use really).
