Will my computer be able to run Quake Wars?

(B0rsuk) #21

dual core?..my quadcore arrives hopefully this week (out of stock everywhere at the moment) and will do the job fine since they talked about splitting the megatextures in threads so there will be a big performance jump with multicore cpu’s…[/quote]

This makes you very leet.

yeah, it’s kinda ego satisfying too, agreed :stuck_out_tongue:

Might be bit tricky to get decent fps, that card is terrible in games.

and RAM costs shitloads too(atleast here)(1gig kingston RAM=300$).

Umm, no. Ram is cheap nowadays, you were prolly looking at some ECC-ram or something similar with stupid high prices, normal 1gig of ram is around 60-80$/€.

(fart666) #24

my bet: nv 6800ultra / 7600gs as minimum for decent (60+) framerates in medium settings/resolution…

just have look: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=175248&highlight=7300le#175248

6600 (or 6600GT) is a greta step forward from an 9600 in quake4. Its twice as fast and should hanlde the game at low with 50FPS stable at least I guess.

An 6600GT is not that much behind an 7600GS in Doom3 as well (giving 85FPS http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=722&model2=717&chart=285 ).

Anyways Ill be happy if i can run it 60-70FPS stable, ~Medium on an:
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52 1.6GHz
2GB DDR2-667 Dualchannel
GeForce Go 7600 256MB

Ram prices have dropped 40-60% this year. Update your prices
Run, run to the shops while the ram ‘cheap’, everybody should have 2gig, dont let you rlack of ram slow down your nice new cpu / gpu performance! Going over 2gig is not necessary though.

(fart666) #30

 prey: http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=722&model2=717&chart=299

…but satisfying  and you have all the 2gig free for your preferred game running without to chunk.

well i took the most expensive RAM here, gig RAM piece costs 150-300$, i have only 1 slot out of 4 used for RAM. ill wait when the 2gig pieces come here. ill give some prices hot from the stores online site:
VGA 256MB Gigabyte Radeon X1600 Pro, PCI-E, T/D, 0dB, DDRII, 128bit, SilentPipe II 1390kr
VGA 256MB Sapphire Atlantis X1800 GTO 21084-00-20R, PCI-e 2490kr
VGA 512MB Sapphire Atlantis X1950 Pro, 11099-00-20R, 580/1400/256bit, AGP 3490kr

1GB DDRAM II 533MHz , Apacer 890kr
2GB DDRAM II Corsair XMS2-6400, 800MHz 4690kr(wow they have come)

CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2,4GHz/4MB, FSB 1066MHz, 775, in box 5190kr
CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+2,2Ghz/1024kB, Soc. 939, box 6390kr

now i dont want to spend time calculating the price in $, but i give you a hint:11.58650kr=1$
so here is an example of the prices in Estonia.

Phf… Showoff.

These are my specs:

1 ghz intel
ati 8000
254 mb ram

Lolz. Not really. Is a ATI Radeon x1600 better or worse than the x800?

(z00b) #37

Mr Fart, I think you stole the specs to the machine I just built.

(Sorry about the windows vista though

What motherboard?

Omfg, get a new rig. An Radeon 8000 is like 4 years old (or more) while the X1600 is the new mid-end card. Yes the X1600 is better, like 5x as fast if it isn’t more.

Are you serious?
