Will DLC see a rise of players on PC?

(indirect) #1

Less than 1,000 a day now is very saddening. Will the DLC be enough to revive Brink for at least another month before the bed of nails is laid?

(Spendlove) #2

Plenty of players in my area. Even more when dlc lands. It’s win win for me.

(zenstar) #3

I hope it will.
Unfortunately I don’t think you’ll get any UK players on PC coming back since the Brink store page is still blocked for us in steam and this isn’t exactly the sort of XPack that you go to the stores to pick up.

Seems that it’s doing a lot better on Xbox than it is on PC which is kinda odd for an SD game.

(tokamak) #4

Better optimisation will.

(indirect) #5

That will have to wait until Brink 2.

(Rahabib) #6

honestly I dont care… with the exception of the new maps, the new abilities and more grind actually makes me sadder :(. Maybe Ill jump on again, but lately I have been very pessimistic.

(indirect) #7

This is more about the grand scheme than the individual splendor.

(indirect) #8

I can feel you there. I haven’t even reinstalled yet :(.

Just posting here upsets me tbqh.

What I’m hoping is that we can access the DLC’s individual pages by searching for them, even if the Brink store page is still locked.

For example let’s say you can’t access the Killing Floor store page, but you may be able to search for “Killing Floor Pack” and still be able to access the DLC store pages. Hopefully this’ll be the case with Agents of Change.

It will see a small rise that will decline even more after 3 days. Since I’m sure many of the 900 people still playing are playing just because dlc is coming out soon. After they played the dlc for a few days they will quit brink forever.

I really hope you’re right, but considering even the video pages are locked down (the videos !!!) I’m worried. I guess we’ll wait and see.
Maybe they’ll email an activation code to all UK players? I’d be ok with that although I’d far rather they just unlocked the page already.

I’ll try it, if it’s not what I’m looking for I’ll be gone just as quickly.

(kilL_888) #13

of course there will be a small boost of players. they will probably even try out the new maps a couple of times.

but if they see, nothing really changed, especially not the things that let them go away, then they will go away pretty fast again.

after a while the playerbase will probably shrink even more. some people are still here just because they wait for the dlc and hope it will be their messiah.

it will not, though. adding something like a new gamemode, lets say, deathmatch, would probably attract more people. that would be the messiah i am waiting for.

(OnceWasGreat) #14

I think it will be like that unless a major patch will come out with the dlc adressing most important issues, at least for public play (i.e. spawn times).

(nick1021) #15

^^^ Well if it has a huge patch it will probably make the number rise to 1000-1100 and stay like that for maybe a few days, but brink is kaput. Unless they fix all the mistakes, make a huge FREE dlc (as in, it has to have A LOT more content and it will be free forever) and THEN make brink free for like 3 days, it might be revived.

Yeah tell me about it! I mean it was funny at first but now it’s just getting kind of ridiculous. How long does it take to sort a minor glitch like this?

I mean they haven’t commented on it yet have they? It’s not like it’s locked for such and such reason, it just is and no one’s talking about it.

I think you will see a rise in players but really the question that we are all interested in is how long will they stay around for. At the moment though I am very frustrated at the lack of real support from SD.

We still don’t have any word on whether we will ever get hold of the SDK and Server Admin tools remain as limited as ever. With the notion of Paid for DLC in the future I think its a safe bet to say we will never see the SDK. What makes matters worse is no support for Linux servers.

Another problem is that I am based in the UK and as we know UK players at the current moment wont be able to access the DLC which means I could potentially have to purchase it which I wont do.

Brink currently has around 700 people at the most playing each day and it is now rumored that the DLC could be introduced as late as 30th of July, for a lot of people thats just way to late. Maybe SD don’t know it but Red Orchestra 2 is scheduled for release in August and that game is PC only, will have dedicated servers and the SDK is going to be released from day 1. Already it looks like it will be a better launch.

If SD don’t sort things out very soon then I think it will be too late although at the moment with how let down I feel I think it already is too late.

Not to mention TF2 just went free to play. There’s plenty of competition out there and things need to be handled slickly. I think Bethesda is causing issues and are going to screw things up for SD.
Just like you I’m in the UK and am worried about the steam thing (and the silence surrounding it).

bethesdas official comment is “no comment”.

Really losing faith in Bethesda now. Might not pick up Rage if this is how the publisher screws over paying customers.

I still believe the theory that it’s exclusivity deals with the “brick and mortar” stores. Makes me very sad.

We can only wait, but the “no comment” comment makes me believe that people in the UK will have to pay for this because you’ll have to buy it in the shop… if they keep stock. For a small DLC? Shameful! If that happens Bethesda can kiss my money goodbye from this point onwards tyvm.
